Surely. Common sense is your friend.

Grandpa taught me a bit about batteries, he owned a trucking company in india, and the shop that we operated "re-made batteries" for our trucks,so I am pretty intimate with the different constructions, materials etc. Its not uncommon for threaded connectors on truck batteries to hook up stuff like a trickle chargers, inverters etc.
Union carbide is huge in India.

big loads go on teh big posts.
Its what I have always 'known'.

Only a tard would wire a winch to those smaller posts, when there are bigger posts to be used.

3/8-16UNC-2B connectors offer a smaller surface area for connection than SAE clamps.
You wont see these connectors alone on a bigger battery for this reason, check for yourself.

For any load thats gonna draw 400CCA at length, current travelling thru a 3/8 stud that hangs off a plate's edge with no direct submersion into the cells below as is the case with the PC2150 design, will have more resistance and end up running hotter over time using the 3/8 stud for a 400CCA load over say 5 minutes, which is a typical winch. Heat is NOT your batteries friend. again, YMMV, go run your battery on the posts and let us know how it works out for ya. Initially it will be fine, over time, I suspect my batt will last longer hooked up my way.

Now, I am not a engineer or electrician, just a lowly computer geek.

I use a JL Audio SAE clamp that EE sells that wraps three 0/1 AWG hot leads and clamps them to the sae connector which is directly submerged into the cell. The studs hang off a conductive plate and deliver power via a 3/8"stud, only a bit larger than a 6mm side post mount; which companies like optima will tell u to not use for winching, I saw a thread on ih8mud where some guy burned off his side posts(granted they were 6mm) from winching

SO for me common sense says that if I am pulling alot of power, use the BIgger connector, with DC voltage you can never have too fat a conductor.

That said, I am fine running a low amp load off the terminals, and have my stuff wired to the posts thats not gonna draw 400cca sustained, like a starter or a winch.

I'm with the jeepers on this one, sorry

I would have no problem with wiring a winch to the stud on a Platinum marine battery. Gem, Your grampa owned a trucking company, My grandpa owned a Marina. Any boat larger than a bowrider uses those threaded terminals.

I have the fectory land rover 110 kit that uses a constant duty solenoid
and a dash mount swich I have never used it.
I will make sure it is complete and if it is
you can have it for 25.

You have my interest. Can you PM me with more details as to what all comes with?

exactly why I got mine at a boat store, west marine, it is rated for 350A continuous and 500A for a few minutes, and 2000A spikes..
I got a 400A continuous switch from an online boating outfit.
But it still sits on my workbench :)
