I put my knee on my roof while loading the rack (I'd say about 50% of my weight was on my knee) and cracked the freaking glass all the way from back to front!!!!!! If no glass was an option on the HSE I would have ordered it that way.... so pissed... now I have to decide if I should replace it or let it ride as is. Ugh...

Tough call. Did both layers crack? If it's just the top layer, may not be a big deal. then again, you get freeze thaw cycles in your next of the woods, and that could be real bad.

I would also order an LR3 without the glass roof. The chaps in the UK get that option, but not us in our "luxury market"

I didn't even know there were two layers, shows how little I know about this truck, I think I'll let it ride and take a chance.

Are you serious?

It's not like it's a little chip in a windshield.... you've got a crack across the entire panel....

It will *not* be good to leave it.... water intrusion will not be pleasant.

I'd suggest looking into getting it replaced sooner than later.

FWIW...

was seriously going to let this ride until Spring, garage is heated and don't drive this beast much (2k miles so far) I use the RRC and FJ62 most of the winter... don't want to even think about what this will cost, I wonder if I can order a hard panel from the dealership to replace the glass? Probably cheaper and this would never happen again...

I think I'd get it fixed. At least find out how much it costs. If it was astronomical you could probably turn it in on your insurance. Wonder how much weight, if any, the glass is designed to support. I see lots of LR3s around town with the roof bars so it would be expected that some pressure/force would be placed on the glass in the normal process of loading and unloading.

Is it a single crack? FYI, we had a few "stress cracks" and replaced 2 under warranty. Also, it's bedded in urethane. If you kneeled on it, the inner or bottom layer would have cracked. It will be water tight, and should be fine. Hit it with the car wash hose and make sure, but the glue seals it, not the glass.

I unloaded one from a truck that had no options! Imagine a $25,000 brand new LR3. I was shocked when it had none of the bells/whistles.

There is at least one in the US without the glass roof.

Interesting. Do you know if it also had cloth seats?

I have a base truck. Its a V6 with just the rear seat and rear climate options. No glass roof or even a sunroof. People still think that the
"duragrain" is leather. I can tell a difference though. My roof seems to be pretty sturdy. Ive got the expedition roof rack and sometimes miss the rails as I am loading. No problems yet.
