Been Away For A While....

It has indeed been a while since I posted last, not sure if that's a good thing or not ;)

Heart issues have been causing me a lot of problems, but after some procedures yesterday when I had a check of the arteries by Angiogram, I have been referred for the heart operation to University Hospital Coventry. That means I'm on the waiting list.

We've just come back from three weeks in Holland and France with the big trailer and our two Discoveries, I did just under 1000 miles towing the trailer, Philip did about 1500 miles as we used his Disco to run around in.

My wife had to be taken to hospital in Holland with a gall bladder problem, but we had excellent and prompt treatment, covered by our European Health Insurance Card which all EU citizens are entitled to.

Here are a few pictures, the Discoveries ran well, no problems at all, almost all running was on LPG, not petrol.

First three are the site at Villey le sec, France, the canal/river is the Moselle.

Next three are me snoozing outside the trailer, and then the Joan of Arc statues outside the Basilica in DomRemy.

Then the Disco's and trailer at Plasmolen, Holland.

Lastly the superb collection of Wim van Schayik at Langenboom in Holland. Just a fraction shown in the pictures.

Your wife has my utmost sympathy - I went through that gall bladder hell about 10 years ago. That kicked my butt squarely and I was down for 2 weeks, 1 week in ICU and 1 week recovery after surgery. Speedy recovery to both of you.

Welcome back!

Good luck with the heart issues, I just had a stress test recently, no fun!

I hope ypuu'll stop on your way to the Portland show again!

Thanks, Paul and the others, nice to be back again.

Paul: We were looking at Portland this year, but the heart problem is putting a crimp in our plans, not only because of the impending heart valve operation but travel insurance just goes ballistic when you tell the insurers about it.

We cheated a bit going to Europe, but we have cover for basic and emergency treatment with the EHIC card, so kept quiet about the heart issues.

We were well pleased with the Discoveries, I used a cup of oil and no water, Philip used a bit more oil but no water also.

There are a couple of places in Belgium where we were flat out in 3rd (R380 manual box) for nearly 6 miles, just an almost continuous climb.

Not many Discoveries in France, we saw three or four, one pulling a trailer with a Freelander on it.

We'll see how next year works out, if we go to Portland we'll come a-calling to be sure.
