I have a 20' and a 30' rated for 20k lbs or so, maybe more. I got them free from a friend that wholesales hardware so that was an easy choice.

better to buy name brand stuff, generic or Chinese knock offs are not worth the savings in my opinion. some places to look.
http://www.4x4connection.com/ in Va, good service for me in the past.
www.quadratec.com Jeep site, but stuff is generally cheaper than Rover specific sites.

I carry a 20 foot strap, 20,000lbs and a kinetic rope, but I have a winch so I use them less often for me than for others.

check out ebay, I bought some straps on there no idea what brand, but they have held up to some major pulling at MAR and I used them during the december snow pulling tractor trailers with a duramax. I think they are 20K pounds and I got them for $10 each.

Depending on where you live in the country, try a farm supply store for D-rings. Our local place has 5 ton rings for around $10. I usually carry 4-5 in the truck.

Are there some that are easier to use than others?

The local hardware store had some but they looked sloppy and irregular

I bought a 3"x30ft from 4x4 connection about 10 years ago. It is a really good piece of equipment. I would recommend it. After aa decade of having the crap beat out of it, it is almost done. Pretty good since it seems most straps don't last that long (all my friends bought pos straps and never took care of them so that is my comparison).

A name brand trailer hitch recovery point is reecommended (I have the superwinch one, it is good), so there is one d-ring.

Like said before, I got most of my d-rings from northern tool. I bought one big one that has a codder pin holding in the main pin. It is my main d-ring I use. Very nice and beefy. It seems. To be easier to use for me than the screw in type.

Go to www.4wheelparts.com and check their stuff out. Their prices are great too. I highly doubt they would sell a whole lot of junk since they are so imbedded into the Jeeper world.

Tractor Supply has this stuff as well.

If you want an ARB strap, get in touch with Mud Ruts on here.

I won't say it is impossible to find a great deal on a good tow strap. I will say that recovery gear is NOT the place to be cheap and skimp for savings. If you decide to buy low quality recovery gear, please be sure to let everyone on the trial know so they can avoid using your crap.

Consider this:

I bought the older version of the EW3 strap from Expedition Exchange back in 2001 or 2002. I also purchased shackles, rings, etc. from them at that time.
After 8 or more years of use and abuse, the strap was still fine....until I recently shredded the end of it pulling a neighbor out of the snow. Since the damage was right at the end of the strap, I emailed John Lee and asked if it could be repaired. John checked w/ his vendor, and while it was possible to do - he offered me the option of a brand new strap at a substantial discount.

I think service like that is a good deal!
