zymol for a paste based wax. used it on the rovers, the mustang, and the porsche.

for the quick touch up wax you do every few weeks use meguiars gold class or next gen liquid wax

I just use NanoWax on the Disco...the rest of my garage gets treated to Mothers.

Same here. Twice a year at least I'll do a liquid clay bar wash/scrub, (can't remember who makes it), and then hit all the blacks and plastics and steel bumpers with the clear liquid "ice" stuff, ( same makers of the clay bar ). Then I try to wax with the nanowax as often as possible. I've found that you can build up the layers if you wait a couple days between wax coats and it looks awesome.

You can use the stuff in any weather and it is very workable. Doesn't need to much buffing or polishing especially if you use a microfiber cloth to finish.

Remember, treat all the plastics and black stuff first before you wax and you will avoid getting it gunked up and nearly permanently embedded in your wheel arches and stuff.

Klasse AIO topped with their sealing glaze will work or absolute best results with Zaino if you follow their instructions properly. Pretty time consuming with Zaino though.

I still prefer a machine.

edit - Meguires NXT will work too, but the oils dry up pretty quick and all the swirls will be noticeable again after just a couple washes.

Zymol is the greatest! Others are OK, but if you're only waxing every few months stick to Zymol and get an enduring wax job. Their carbuna (sp?) is especially good, but expensive.

I did the whole Mcguire's thing; clay, etc.
I tried using a random orbital buffer to apply the wax, that just splattered it all over hell and gone, so I did it by hand.
Then, I tried using the buffer to remove it, but the pad loaded up pretty quickly, so I did that by hand, too.
Good results, but took about 6 hours total.

I am geeting an oxidized look on mine. I can make it go away with polishing compound followed by wax, but it only lasts for a week or two and it takes about six hours to do. I don't mind the work if it would just last a few months.
I have the Altair Silver. Anyone else have this problem or solve it?

Zymol the very best, Meguiars is pretty good, Mothers and Gigot's stuff not too bad. The most important thing in my estimation is to keep a good coat of wax on the rig, and wax again right after you get all the pinstrips again. But Zymol gives the glossiest shine. Ray
