There are a lot of threads on this topic.

The OP mentioned using the search but wants opinions. There are a lot of opinions thrown about in those threads as well.

Someone will chime in shortly and invite you to use the search feature.

They will not be as delicate as myself.

There's no "best lift". Every truck, trail, driver, etc is different. You need to do a lot of research and figure out what you will be using the truck for. Do you wanna just look cool, will you be in deep water, what type of soil, hills, sand, tire size, weight, it all factors in. I been researching for months and figured I'm going to try rovertym 2in with ome shocks and run 265 75 16s but I have a D1. And its mostly stock and mostly fire roads and street.

My opinion: I have the OME hd lift on my truck, and also a new one that isnt installed. I cant complain about the lift, but its really not good for me because I plan on abusing my disco2 doing some hard wheeling, so I want at least a 3 inch lift, probably 4, to help with articulation and clearance. I might go 1.5spacers and put the new OME lift on, and see what I get. Then, I will go with RTE when I want bigger, and really want to spend the money.

Available money and intended use = size of lift

Putting a lift and tires on will let you run most trails. Putting a lift and body armor will let you run a lot more trails and some rocks. Putting a lift, body armor, lockers, hd axles, hd drive shafts on, well...you get the idea.

I wanted to get my brother's D1 started on this track - and couldn't decided what to start from.
Then I looked at my white D1, and counted the non-stock parts in it - bought over the years, some bought long ago, a lot bought used, etc. - there's about $4k below floor level, labor not included... And I never considered it "heavily modified."
I don't think there's such a thing as "doing it right the first time."

I have this exact lift/shock/tire combo on my 98 and am very happy. I ended up with an average lift of 2.9" over my saggy stock springs. I only needed to trim about 1" on the rear side of each fender.
