Best shipping method for business

I've been doing a lot of shipping UPS and it's getting expensive. My boxes are approx 50"L x 16"H x 16"W. Basically a large golfbag box. I ship about 10 per week. I know you guys do a lot of shipping for parts, etc so I'm wondering if there are any better shipping methods out there. UPS seems to be cheaper than FedEx and the UPS store right by my house is pretty helpful. I have an account set up there and I get 5% off all the time and sometimes they run promotions....

Thanks!

Joe

i would just open the phone book and get a bunch of quotes from shipping companies and use them against each other. We just shipped 5 gear boxes to SW Rovers today and it cost a little over $300 which was a good $50+ dollars less than last time.

Set up an account directly with UPS and have them pickup at your location. The OOPS store just adds to the costs; skip the barrel and go to straight to the tree.

USPS all the way for me.

Last October, UPS instituted a new "security" measure. I haven't been able to ship with them since.

UPS charges $13 to pick up a package at my shop-or, $5/week if I want them to stop by everday.

Fedex charges $11 to pick p a package.

USPS discounts if processed on-line and, they stop by six days a week for free!

You might be surprised at how inexpensive priority mail can be.

The USPS won't play in the golf bag market. X2 on setting up your own account. You can waive the pickup fees by dropping off at TUPSS.

Who is paying the shipping, you or your customers? If it's your customers, do they value or prefer who is your shipper? I value companies that use UPS or Fedex, becasue I can easily track online. When I by from a company that ships my stuff USPS this is a deterrent for future business, becasue I cant track it.

I guess my point here is ask what do your customers want and use that to guide your decision. Don't assume they want to save a few dollars and not have that tracking number.

I agree with the others , get a direct account. Call UPS and explain what you are trying to save some money and see if they can put a discount scale together for you.

I did many many dollars with UPS, and then they piss me off for a $ 1.78 issue. Swapped to FedEx and I couldn't be happier.

Base on volume, they will pick for free ( specially if you ship FedEx Freight ), the only downside is not same day pick up for Freight
