Too lazy and not enough time to tackle this myself right now.

Brakes are really squeaky and I've got the 4 Amigos on right now.

If I have my local shop do the job, what can I expect to pay for something like this? I know it will vary from shop to shop but what's an acceptable price for pads and rotors all around?

Fixing the Amigos is probably another job...I think I've got a P1590 code right now.

Thanks

You could order the parts from one of the many guys that sell parts and that post on discoweb, i'm guessing for $300, or less probably, and knock it out in less than an afternoon. D2 brakes are very easy.

Yeah I've ordered all the parts before so I'm guessing the shop marks up to account for warranty.

Unfortunately I don't have the time or space right now to work on the truck so I'm at the mercy of a local shop...

Just got another quote from a second shop:

$1010 aftermarket

$1230 genuine

Plus tax on parts (9% in CA...)

Shit man. What if the calipers or slides are binding? Wont know till you start the job. Feeling like making a little time now I hope. I gotta open my own shop. I see people doing that shit all the time. I could turn a great proffit at less than half that.

Believe me, I'm not happy about those quotes but someone above mentioned $800 so this isn't far off. These 2 shops aren't even close to each other too so it's not like it's the going rate in a single area.

Jimmy mentioned 2 hours per axle plus parts. One shop's hourly is $130 so times 4 hours is $520 which means the parts and tax are about $500.

I guess, you really need to spare an afternoon and see if any of your friend can let you use their driveway for it.
Paying for some beers is better than over 1K for a brake job.

And what's wrong with the 4 amigos? ABS sensor?

Edited: At lease, take off your wheels and see how bad are the rotors, maybe it is just a pads replacement and may save you some time for it.

Yeah a $1000 is hard to swallow for sure. Not really budgeted for at the moment either.

I checked out the rotors and they are pretty bad. Grooves in all and the fronts have pretty deep lips on the outsides. Haven't done the rotors in at least 50k miles. Way overdue.
