So I think I'm going to find the time and give this a try myself.

Any suggestions on what brands to buy? Anyone have a full parts list that I need? I'm confused about what bolts I need.

Also, who's got the best prices now? US or UK sellers?

Contact Will Tillery here. I got the whole brake kit form him for a good price.

Prices in the UK are better but shipping to the USA kills it.

We buy just discs and Mintex pads, never had to change anything else apart from the bolts that hold the calipers to the stub axle, use them twice then renew.

If you are handy at all, there is no reason to farm out a brake job unless your time is worth more than the savings. My girlfriend brought her VW rabbit in and they wanted 750 for 4 corners. I called around and that seems to be the going rate. Shops have to make money and I'm all for that, but I did it for 90 bucks. Just don't cheap out on the pads on the D2 unless you want to buy an ABS amigo.

Thanks for all the info. I like the idea of genuine pads. I've got a set of Akebonos on one DII now and they seem to be good so far. No squealing as of yet.

Is there a part set or number for the bolts I'll need to replace?

Last summer I did all four corner brake pads in less than 2 hours. Rotors probably would add an hour, if that. Very easy job.

and x2 for Will on the parts.
