i have a question about the replacement of this little crappy plastic guide. I used the instructions in the tech section and repaired my rear pasenger window earlier this year and it sorta worked OK, but it still makes a popping noise when i go to open it so i pretty much just leave it up all the time. i know have the other rear door glide broke and the pasengers side glide it one more use away from breaking. I need to replace these but aside from buying new regulater arm assemblies is there a better fix then the one inthe tech section? when i repaired the widoe last tiem a i bough a whole slew of nylon washers and screen door repair kits and noe of them really worked all that well so if anyone has done this repair and has some further suggestions I'd liek to hear it.

thanks in advance.

Hoot,

Had the same problem. I could not find the proper nylon bushing, so I just replaced the entire regulator minus the motor. What a PIA :banghead: , not much else to do. Take some pictures for alignment otherwise its simple. The Manual has two sections on it if you need details. Disconnect the electrical plug from the motor, then your ready to start. Make sure that you tape the window in the up position first, and then remove the regulator from the window assembly track (two bolts) then from the door. Replace and test prior to refitting the panel. Good luck.

I have replaced 3 of mine now with blocks of UHMW (ultra high molocular weight) plastic, this stuff is tough and slippery. I believe Derlin is similar. Perhaps you can find some scraps at a local plastics place. All you need is a piece maybe 1x2x1/4 inches.

I'd take a picture but pulling the door apart is a PITA so here's a simple line drawing. The point is to shape a rectangle with rabbets on the edges such that it slides in the track without falling out. I did this with a bandsaw and files, the stuff is not hard to cut so you should be able to figure out a way to shape it. Then drill a hole in the middle and put a countersink on the side that goes against the back of the track so your bolt head does not rub on the back of the track.

I found shower door wheels fit. They are same diameter 1" but are thicker a belt sander will fix that. Drilled out nipple and screwed in wheel. Perfect fix. I got them at hardware store in sets for $3 or so.

You can buy the kits for the nylon wheel replacement for patio doors at HD or Lowes or probably any hardware store for a few bucks and the wheel and the bolt come in the right size. I have done a few and other that the learning curve on the first one after that it is a breeze

hey man i had the same problem with mine...i just ignored it like you say you've been doing by leaving it up but everytime i used it....it made it worse...long story short the regulator twisted the metal and broke off in the door...new regulator from roverparts.com $99 takes fifteen minutes to install and the noise and problem are gone
