Couple questions for you vetrans to help me make up my mind on this.

1. Is it worth it?
2. What kind of crowd attends?
3. Reading the info on this, apparently its "dry". How strict are they on this?
4. How social is everyone?

This will most likely be the last chance i have to go to one of these, i have either been deployed or had other issues when these were going on.

Also, who from East NC is planning on attending. Might look at convoying with you all, especially if i take the SIII.

Thanks.

That is a personal decision that everybody needs to make for themselves. I've always really enjoyed going and it's worth it for me. It's a nice place to camp and the trails are decent unless you have an heavily modified truck then some might be boring.

It's usually a varying crowed, everybody is typically nice and you get to walk around and be social just like most rover events. It's not a huge event, I've never counted but would think about 50-100 trucks.

Yes, there is no alcohol allowed in the National forest. That has never stopped us from drinking though. Just keep it in a non discreet cup, don't leave your cans laying around and don't act a fool and you'll be fine.

I sort of answered that above already. People are friendly and as social as you want them to be. If you just sit at your site and never talk to anybody people won't bother you, but if you walk around and talk to people they will talk right back. After you've been a few times people will make their rounds and visit friends that they've met in prior years.

If you have a nice truck people will come by and talk to you about it.

Hope this helps.

I plan to drive down Thursday morning from the Raleigh Area.

I went to the event that http://www.theoldnorthstate.org/ had last October at Uwharrie. This was my first event and I had a BLAST. Great group of guys and plenty of fun and drama on the trails. This will be my first CROC event but I am sure it will be great.

Will be heading out Friday morning hopefully from Asheville, NC.

Not really "dry" just be responsible and discrete

No worries about that, im not an alkie by any means but a drink or 3 is nice in a social setting.

Sounds like a plan, now i just have to make sure the SIII is up to the task.

Richard,

If I can get along with the guys at the entrance....you can get along with them...as long as you bring your wife. Otherwise, Ill still hang out with you...Ive got some work to do on the D1 until then.

Oh yea, and when the hell did you get home?

Cheers! I think you owe me a beer or two!

is there enough trail riding to consider getting myself there by Thursday night or Fri morning (coming from FL, havent decided if I will drive it straight or camp on the way up) or midday Friday, all day Sat., and depart Sunday sufficient time? No night riding, correct?
