Lol. And I was giving context to the advantage of a fixed tie down directly bolted through the floor over something that has the potential although remote to come completely loose, how this would happen would be murphys law.

Your setup looks good. This is not some personal attack on you.

The stuff I use often doesn't get buried under my shelf. My buried stuff includes jumper cables, bottle jack, axle shafts and other trail spares. The stuff near the front under my shelf includes tools and a smaller bin of trail spares.

You know, if you're on the trail, and the urge hits you, all you have to do is open a drawer- find the roll of TP and it's off to the races.
No unbuckling, unstrapping, unpacking the 3rd Pelican on the bottom right...

.

i thought you saw my reachback holder on the cargo door? its right at reach level when youre leaning against the bumper.

i got no time to pull a drawer out when it gets to that point.

People make this more complicated than it needs to be. You've already got jump seat brackets in the truck. If not, Marty will probably give you a set for free. Use those brackets, two pieces of 1" square stock, and a board to make a shelf. Done. In a D1 you can then fit a 1650 and a 1560 side-by-side. Put the TP in the glove box.

Yeah, Ben came up with a really nice design. I thought about one for years and never considered a floor that would go underneath the rear seats.

Ben's woodcraft was gorgeous but the true beauty of his system was the layout. In the back, he had his Engel and a Pelican full of food and cooking gear. With the rear door table, all he had to do was open the back door and he had his kitchen. I believe that he kept his chair under the raised platform in back. The whole platform had those Mac's sliding tie-downs so he could adjust straps if he deviated from his usual setup.

Forward of the cooking gear, he had Pelicans with his tools and spares, and his fuel and water. All of the really heavy shit that you're rarely accessing, kept very low and central on the truck for optimal weight distribution. No six-jerry-cans-on-the-roof bullshit.

On his roof rack, he had one big Pelican with his camping gear, hard-mounted to the rack. Nice and light and he didn't even have to open the rear door to start setting up camp. Didn't even have to undo a ratchet strap for that one.

It was so sweet. I can't wait to see what he comes up with for his 110. I will most definitely copy it.

this thread, this OP, and this truck is the most piece of shit nontech horseshit I've ever seen im my many years trolling discoweb.

dude,

nobody gives a flying fuck about your piece of shit rrc, your storage box, or your "expedition" or whateverthefuck it is that you've decided to take your wife and kids on.

seriously, take this highschool shop project of a "storage solution" you've managed to cobble together into the backyard, dump gasoline on it, and light the fucker on fire.

It's worth more in ashes than it is to this website.

fuck.
wow someone is PMSing, and this isnt a high school project, just because you got someone else working on your LR. I work on my own. so why don't you cry to someone that cares and get over yourself. pple like you gives Land Rovers Bad names SO grow up and shut your mouth

just buy an eight gallon bucket with a lid.... you are welcome.

This is "why" drawers.

Problem with drawers over a shelf or peli solution is when you can't (or don't want) to open your rear door to access things you need.

Don't stop now.

Why not throw these into the pile of randomly grouped letters, as well?

Speaking of Ben's truck... and trying to give D1 the utility of the 110.
I think on the next long trip - when I'm either alone or with a single passenger - I'm going to ditch the rear seats, and make a birch plywood floor covering the entire area aft of the front seats. My biggest pet peeve is having hundreds of pounds of gear behind the rear axle - I should be able to move it to the floor behind the front seats.
Now if I could mod the RRC seat frames so the backs fold forward, I'll be all set. Unfortunately, there aren't too many good-quality folding seats from two-door somethings.
