Hey everyone,

What kind of champion plugs are recommended for a 02 DII? What should the gapping be set at and what torque should be applied? Sorry but I searched and couldn't find exactly the info I needed. Thanks

Unless I should get bosch plats.

hywy- the bosch comment was a little thing called "sarcasm." If you had read the post in its entirety perhaps you would understand why I posted. Sometimes doing a search doesn't answer all of my questions mannnnn (especially at work.) Thanks for your help though, you too fordbuilder

I have been using the same plugs in the Motronics engines as I have in the GEMS engines as I have in the Lucas engines for more than five years now.

"I" haven't had any problems with the Champion 322/RN11YC4 plugs in any of them. Same goes for the Autolites, but I tend to only use the Autolites in my own rigs as I don't want my clients to think I'm a cheap bastard with their trucks.

we wouldn't think that! I changed my plugs around 15k ago and I couldn't remember what kind I used until looking through my tech manual this morning I discovered a used spark plug box as a bookmark. Bosch Plats!!! oh no, i got to change that this weekend, it certainly would explain the stutter.:banghead:

Before meeting Chris Schaeffer and reading his diatribes on those plugs, I thought nothing of them. Then, I had a RRC come in that just wouldn't run. I threw a set of Autolites in it and the owner couldn't believe that $20 worth of plugs ran so much better than plugs he'd spent more than twice as much for.

Made me a believer.

Manual for my 99 D2 4.0 calls for:

Spark plug torque = 20 Nm (15 lbf.ft)

Plug gap = 1.00 ± 0.05 mm (0.040 ± 0.002 in) Non-adjustable

Plugs:

4.0 = Champion RC11 PYP B4
4.6 = Champion RN11 YCC

May want to get a RAVE CD. Full of good info

Peace

X2. No problems with 322s in two DIIs and my DI. Barely more expensive than the Autolites around here. I also ran the Autolites in the DI for a while with no problem whatsoever.

Champion Platinum Series:# 3318

Happy Days!

X2 on the Champion plats. The only reason I went with them is that anything copper has a huge RFI that makes my CB extemely noisy when the TC engages or the wipers are on. The platinum has a much lower RFI and makes the noise more tolerable on the trail.

That's good to know. I was getting some interference with my in the DI, but I think it's related to sharing a ground with the stereo amp and not the plugs (yes, I do know better). But good info on the plugs.

I'm using the Champion truck plugs.... not sure on the # though. No issues. Fire's up strong.

That probably works real well for you way up there, you need all the heat you can get to the engine to get it going. I've heard of somebody else using the truck plugs too who lived in northern Minnesota or something. They might be overkill for the rest of the lower 48.
