Ok guys i need a little help here. I just pulled my right front tire because the brakes where starting to make a nasty sound and to my woe i a have worn the pads down waaaayy past their prime and am now looking at putting on a nice new set of rotors. how much more difficiult is it to change out the front rotors as compared to the rear rotors?

i had done that job last fall. aside from being a nasty dirty job and aking me twice as long as it should have it was relatively easy. How does the work on the front compare to the rear?

thans in advance.

For the first time the fronts on a dI are a lot of work... but once you do them once they aren't bad. Much more time than the rears.

Remove the wheel.

Remove the caliper.

Remove the drive flange/snap ring.

Bend back lock tab, remove hub nut, remove lock tab, remove hub nut.

Carefully remove hub/rotor.

Place hub/rotor into wheel and remove five 12-point (14 m/m I believe bolts).

Separate rotor from hub using just about any method that does not include beating on it with a hammer.

Wire grush mating surface on hub, smear some anti-sieze on the mating surface, mate rotor to hub, tighten bolts to 45 ft-lbs (if memory serves).

Re-install hub to axle, tighten hub bolts to 45 ft-lbs (same disclaimer about my memory applies), back offf 90 degrees, tighten to 15 ft-lbs (disclaimer).

replace snap-ring/drive flange

replace caliper

tighten lug nuts.

drive away happy.
