Looking for some general input. I just pulled some codes. I have PO174, PO340 & PO171. PO340 says a Camshaft position Sensor Circuit Malfunction. What do I do? Anyone know what needs to be done. It seems to be running fine.I recently changed the Serp belt added a new radiator and its running good so I'm not sure what could have caused the malfunctioning. I read an earlier thread about PO174 and PO171 about starting with the MAF. It may need a good cleaning but was looking for additional input from everyone. Thanks

Sounds like your sensor is either inoperative, or perhaps unplugged.

The engine will go into a limp home mode if the cam sensor goes. If the crank sensor goes, the engine won't run.

The sensor works very similarly to an ABS sensor, as the cam gear passes the sensor, a voltage is generated. Pull the sensor out and hook it up to an oscilloscope or graphing volt meter and wave a piece of ferous metal past it. If a voltage is indicated, the sensors is presumptively good.

I'm currently chasing down a P0172/P0175...

IT'S a START

Thanks, P.T.

FWIW, do a search for P0171 (System to Lean) I know your running Rich but maybe trying this MAF cleaning is a start. Thanks for the info on the Camshaft Sensor, its a starting point.

I had this same code a while back, ended up being the connector that plugs into the airbox fell off. Cleared the codes and all is well.
