"For those who may have questioned my flying it inverted, I feel strongly that America has been in distress since September 11."

Come on man, you manipulated our flag to declare some kind of personal political view.

Sorry if I come off as a little "harsh" but I get a little tired of seeing 16 year-old punks and wanna-be patriots with inverted flags on their shit. When you're down range on some forward fire base in the middle of some valley or defending a US Consulate in another country then yes - fly your flag inverted. When you're in the safety of our borders with a beer in your hand at a truck rally - fly it normal. When you're in Gore, Va next to the WVA border you'll find a lot of good ol' boys that may take offense to "political statements".

Pissed I missed this event, but I'll be there next year assuming none of my friends decides to have their wedding that weekend again! Ugh. Post up the date for 2013 if it's already determined.

I am confused about something:

We had 108 trucks and over 200 people this weekend at Conclave. Some of you assholes snuck people/friends/family into the Cove without paying your fee to the Conclave. Folks, every additional person you brought to the event cost us $15 per day. Because of the dishonest people who thought they were getting away with something, that in return cost the event organizers just over $1,700. The Conclave did not mark this fee up in any way and only passed this fee along to the participants in order to keep costs low. But even that was not cheap enough for some. We know about the ones who parked their cars off site and rode into the gate in a Rover; we know about the guys who paid for one or two people but brought three, four, or five guests; we know who paid for Friday and Saturday only but showed up on Thursday. Here is your chance to make it right.

So there were at least around 40 people or max 60 people who didn't pay the fee (($15 a day * 40 people) * 3 days = $1,800)? That's 20-30% of your overall attendance. When I went a few years ago for an event at The Cove we had to be pre-registered and on a list that The Cove had printed out inside the hut. Then, if we hadn't pre-paid (can't remember if we could pre-pay actually) we paid the people inside the hut immediately. Just wondering how it cost The Conclave, because when I went it was required that we pay the staff at The Cove before we even entered the park. Plus, how'd they know if someone paid for Fri-Sat but stayed Thurs-Sat...and if The Cove was able to identify these individuals (considering you say The Conclave was charged for it/them) why wasn't The Cove approaching these individuals for the $$ at that time?

When we did the Cove before, it was a $20 registration fee to basically cover the insurance requirement. That's it. When you arrived on-site you paid your camping fees and that was it.

Conclave tried to get all fees up-front so all you had to do is show up. Live and learn.

if The Cove was able to identify these individuals (considering you say The Conclave was charged for it/them) why wasn't The Cove approaching these individuals for the $$ at that time?

Trust me, we know who cheated. We're giving them a chance to make it right, first.

Ain't America great where we can both make such statements

I have a God-given, Constitutionally protected right to be as big of an asshole as I can be.

If you fail to see the patriotism in such statements, I'm sorry for you.

wait, there was a real wheeling event last weekend?

well put together Gustavo, Justin et al. Wish it was just two main camps, hard to connect with people. Trails were awesome wheeled a 78 lightweight and got the shit beat out of me in the little leaf sprung sucker but a blast. Trail markings were non existent or done by a 4 year old but great. I didn't notice the snobbery but maybe I am one :0

Bob with the blender is a good dude and incredibly knowledgeable guy. He's a craftsman on all fronts - from trucks to kitchens. Nice to see he is still rockin' my old TMM decal on his truck from over 10 years ago. Good guy even if he does have a pony tail.

Awesome trip. Justin, Dan, Goose, and everyone else who made this happen: THANK YOU! I hope you decide to do it again in 2013. If you do, then I plan to be there.

In fact, I really can't say 'THANK YOU!' enough to all the guys who helped me out by lending me the tools I needed (and their expertise) in showing me how to go about replacing my shattered CV Saturday afternoon.

I'm not sure who the 'snobs' were. Everyone seemed really friendly to me all weekend...

I don't know why the Cove wouldn't have charged for everyone. When I arrived I had already paid for myself and my wife, but had to pay for my kids. I took care of that at the front office Thursday evening when they put our wrist bands on us. (Of course, my 4 yr old refused to wear one.:banghead:)

If people were sneaking in, and especially if the event organizers are getting a bill for them, then they need to ante up the $$$ immediately. Stealing the 'services' from The Cove is bad, but screwing the guys who put this together for us is total bull shit...

We definitely have to save this picture...a PT sighting at a LR event is like seeing a unicorn or a clear picture of the Loch Ness Monster.

Seriously though, I was excited to finally meet PT in person and get a chance to give him the $10 I owed him. :D

I will admit, I was a little worried this event might suck, but I had been wanting to come to The Cove for a while and I have to say it was definitely worth it. Adding to the fun factor was probably the fact that I took a truck I had owned for about 12 hours and immediately started putting it through its paces. The first problems were with the transfer case shifter, had to jam it in to low range and CDL for the weekend. First couple of trails were full of excitement for sure, right off the bat I mangled a RTE stainless steel tie rod assembly. From there it got progressively more fun/destructive... Something I have learned: Never underestimate the importance of a fully functioning master cylinder. What might feel a little weak at times normally will feel terrible all the time once you are in Low range. Thursday night I learned exactly how little braking I had after an incident that resulted in a massively bent panhard rod and a dismounted tire. Pretty sure this was the beginning of the end for the engine/transmission/transfer case mounts as well. After some great trailside assistance from the L8 shop boy it was driveable for a bit. Friday the mounts finally gave it up and one of the pullies chewed up the lower radiator hose. I was very lucky to find the parts I needed from Dan, Matt and Corey and Sat morning I managed to get the truck somewhat driveable again. I managed alright until that last night run on Saturday, when the brakes became a bigger problem. First I smacked a tree hard, not such a big deal but apparantly all the front bumper bolts were loose so the grille etc is totally destroyed. Then I slid into a mudhole I was doing my best to avoid and Matt (lrflip) and I ended up walking back to camp for help. That was a first.

All things considered though, I was pretty convinced this truck was going to end up on the roof this weekend and it didn't so that was a plus.
