I'm pretty sure no one is America has died from a Copperhead bite.

Clean up your house and the mice will leave, or continue to live the way you do and let the snakes do their job.

has nothing to do with being "clean" we are very clean. the mice were after the dog food, not 3 day old pizza lying on the floor.

i am not concerned about being killed by a snake either. i dont want them in my garage or near my kid. thanks for that useless jack nut advice.

They probably came up through the toilet. I would check carefully before setting.

Very good advice Kennith! I did the gravel thing a couple months ago.

I know that people get concerned about their children and all the creepy crawlies out there, but as DiscoJen said - good time for teaching. I have a 9 yr old and a 2 1/2 year old. They both know NOT to touch a snake, and to immediately get me. The gravel went down because my 2 yr old came in the house and said "Momma, No Feet (Little Bear Cartoon) is in the yard, he needs to go home. I hate snakes, so I called my neighbor who relocated him.

Sure. Keep telling yourself that.

No problem, just take care of the above and I'm sure the mice will vacate. Happy to help, dud.

Find a snake that eats both mice and Copperheads and you'll solve both issues. We have a black snake that lives in our crawlspace under the house that controls the population under there. He's been there since we moved in ten years ago.

Dude,

Thanks again.

Save your family, set the traps. Use Rice Krispie treats, the mice love these more than dog food and old pizza.

But first clean up your house, Glad Force Flex bags, you can really stuff them full of shit. Buy two boxes.

The process....
No trash or food, no mice, no snakes. Glad I could help. Seriously, no need to thank me.

Fill holes around the house with "great stuff" from Home Depot. Then get a cat. I know there are cats around your neighborhood, but when it's your cat and it knows where it's house is, it portects it. Make it an inside/outside cat, it will be loyal and portectant and your problem will be solved. Plus, cats are easy to have and sometimes very cool animals. Trust me I live in coastal NC and my last house backed up to woods with many snakes. Because of my two cats I never saw a snake alive in the yard...and ocasionally the cat would bring one to me when i got home as a trophy, that was a cool ass cat.

I have a cool ass cat like that too. He is an outdoor/indoor kitty, who thinks he is also a dog. We get trophies daily from his "hunting" trips, my kids think he is cool.

All great advice, may I add education. Learn the snakes likely haunts and avoid them, as your child get older take him/her to a petting zoo to handle a snake in a controled condition. The guy pictured below has hung out at my pond for years and whenever I get the chance I show him to the neighborhood kids, some flee and some are fascinated but at least I helped them to overcome the "kill the snake" reaction.

Wow, that's a healthy one, isn't it? Pretty snake. How long would you say it is, how big around? As you can see from the picture, a copperhead has one of the most beautiful color patterns of the snake world, they are by far my favorite.

Cheers,

Kennith
