I am troubleshooting my cruise control and I need to test the pump. I don't know anyone who has a Disco I could put it in so is there another way to see if it is working?

You dont need another disco, just the RAVE.

He wants to know how to bench test his Cruise Control pump.
Knowing if it was a D1 or D2 would help, though.

If it's a D1, remove the pump, and you'll see two ports (one used by the hose, another - open). There is a a 3-pin connector - center is for the ground, the other two - for pump motor and valve. Hook up a vacuum gauge to the port that was used for the hose, connect the ground connector to the - terminal, and both others - to + terminal of the battery, and see if the pump motor runs, and it pulls about 5-7 psi of vacuum.

That's what I needed to know. I had no idea which terminals were ground and + .
This should make troubleshooting a lot easier.

The RAVE has a trouble shooting section for the entire system. Shows you how to jump the pump without having to remove it and rules out the other switches and ECU as well.

Not hard, all you need is a multi meeter and a few pieces of wire for jumpers. An assistant would be handy, but it can be done alone.

I've heard several stories of inoperative cruise control systems. Could it be related to the turn signal relay?

While out on the trail recently I busted my turn signal stalk so I'm stuck making left hand turns. I removed the signal relay and the cruise stopped working. If I put the relay back in, it starts working. My background is electrical but I've yet to trace the issue.

easiest thing to do is first do a vacuum test separate of the pump. just the other day i was having trouble sourcing the problem on a cruise system and it turn out it was leaking air at the pedal switch.

I checked the vac line to the brake pedal and straightened out a minor kink--negative function.
Next I plan to pull out the vac pump and test it with a 12V power supply.
BTW the "on" light on the cruise control switch does not illuminate. Perhaps it is a faulty switch?
