Please forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere in this site before, but I just spent all night reading the SYoung thread, so I didnt search the archives.

I am the new owner of a 2000 discovery 2, and the cruise control was non-functioning when I purchased it.
I almost never use cruise control, but it irks me no end to have a broken part on my lovely new toy.
Is there a common problem that might be easy for me to fix?
I may be new to Land Rovers, but I have plenty of shadetree mechanic in my past, so I feel fairly confident that I will be able to understand whatever advise you choose to give.
Thank you all, in advance.

Check on the right hand side of the engine you will see a rubber bladder check all of the vacuum hoses for any leaks. Cut and reattach.

If its not the hose it probably the pump, they burn out from time to time. The least likely culprit on a rover as new as yours is the ring shaped control unit on your steering column.

Man, I love this site...
Thank you for the quick responses.
I just ran downstairs like a retard on a fieldtrip, to check my vacuum lines...they seem intact.
I will now wait until this coming weekend to use my future father in law's garage to check out the life left in my pump.

Yes, Thank you as well, I fixed mine using this adivce as well. I need to get new hose, but it seems to at least work now.
