Did this topic jump to another thread? If not, what's the latest?

On the Bronco springs topic, I reached out to Wild Horses 4x4 for some spring rates and lengths on their lift springs (I did ask for wire diameter, but it was not provided), and this is what they provided:

I too am someone who carries a bunch of weight all the time, but in a D1. I've had linear/constant rate 3" lift RTE springs in there for a long time (over 10 years) and it's likely time to replace. They're sitting at 13.75" installed these days, and the truck looks like it's squatting in the rear. I'm tossing around the idea of some spacers, or new springs.

I dropped a lot of weight which helped, but still not happy. It's on the bench for now until I finish installing lockers and tires.

Those specs seem very promising. Are they actually compatible with D2's? For comparison, OME 763 (HD) rear springs are 16.5" tall @ 360/lbs. The taller height of the 3.5" bronco's should allow for 3-4" of lift without using spacers on a D2.. if they work

Are you going to try them?

Those springs are not "drop in" for a Land Rover. It'll take some fab work. If you're on FB, here's a pic and discussion on using these Bronco springs:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156745823678567 From that discussion: "The bronco springs aren't a perfect fit. And to be honest probably arent suited for a rig that hauls alot of overland gear. They are better suited for a more like rock crawler or trail rig. They are soft springs." [The owner has an account here, too. @Calirovin https://discoweb.org/index.php?threads/5-ome-lift.91315/post-1008253 But, he's not been online in some time.]

So, not sure yet on trying them. The fab doesn't worry me. Given the spring rates, they're close to RTE springs (IIRC). So, I just might. But, Dobinson has an interesting HD spring for the rear, too. I'm still looking.

Check out Dobinson suspension. Big player in Australia. They also have a US headquarters. https://www.dobinsonusa.com/index.php/landrover-4x4-suspension/land-55

Reached out to them on their C51-027V springs, and they don't stock/carry them in the U.S. To get a set, it's either a one week wait to have them air freight'd in at the tune of about $200, or a two-three month wait to have them come in with a standard container order to Florida. The spring pair would cost $175.

The Terrafirma TF027V springs are interesting, as they're designed to support a constant heavy load which is the heaviest I've seen thus far (300kg) and provide lift (albeit 2", I'd need 3").

Im running the TF027v on my D2 plus a 1" spacer. For a 4" lift. I can attest to them being stiff. I dont carry a lot of weight, but thats what came in my 4" kit from lucky8. Ive been looking at 110 coils as they are the slightly longer with a lighter coil rate.

Finally dug up the spring rate for these: 360 ft lbs. I was expecting it to be higher. Free heights are only 420/410mm DS/FS respectively, which is under 17"... again, I was expecting taller.

The 110 springs I was lookig at are TF019. 300lb rate with 435mm free height. 17.1" I should add that I have a different goal than you. I want to keep my same ride height, just have a softer rate. I don't carry lots of weight on the trail, but I do take a lot of crap when I go camping.

Wont 110 springs require welding on different spring pockets and different spring seats?

No idea! Main reason I havent tried it yet. I guess I could go over to my buddies shop and test fit a set? Ive got so many other projects Im working on right now, swapping springs hasn't been a priority.

Found another option, Britpart DA4205

Rate: 360 lbs
Bar diameter: 19mm
Length: 430mm

As far as I can tell, they are not sided, so they are 1mm thicker bar than OME or terrafirma, same rate, and 10mm longer (and 20mm longer on the passenger side, if these are not sided)

And they are only $130 shipped from LRDirect.

Might be worth a shot. Spacers still necessary, and I also found these for an extra bump in height: https://www.britpart.com/parts/suspension-and-axle/springs/coil-set-packers

Here are 2.5" spacers: https://www.amazon.com/Supreme-Susp...ery+2+spacers&qid=1559402957&s=gateway&sr=8-2

I ordered the britpart springs to try out.

Keeping the RTE's in the front for now, however my front right is 1" lower than the left. Is it okay to put a 1" spacer on only one side? Pros/cons?

Britpart coils came in, they measure at 429mm and 426mm. 19.25mm bar diameter. Here's a photo up against OME 763's. Coil spacing seems awfully tight, but they otherwise look beefy. Going to try them with 1" spacers, D1 seats, and upper isolator.

Also cutting 1" off the rear fenders all around for tire clearance and to make the rear look a little more perched

How bout sit in the driver seat and have someone measure height. I would not use a spacer on one side only, that's like using castor corrected radius arm on one side alone.

Yeah good point

Just stumbled across this. Looks like a christmas miracle, anyone know much about them? X-Springs: https://foundry4x4.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=65_1759&product_id=71
and http://www.x-eng.co.uk/images/x-eng/x-flex suspension/x-spring/

Might be perfect for my setup

Don't remember if these ever came up or not, TF043 and TF044. They are a terrafirma custom order, min 50 pieces. 18 inches front and 19 inches rear, 3 inch lift, not sure what the rate is. Lucky 8 did order them and might have them in stock. Someone else on here ordered them and then disappeared so we never got installed heights or other post install reviews.

Let us know what your installed height is.

A rattle can will fix the color, or Utah mud, or Northeast winters, or powder coat for more money, you have options.

It's a good idea to call the manufacturer before you powder coat springs. They may have used a different temperature to preserve the heat treating when they did it, and not every shop actually watches their oven temperatures carefully.

Cheers,

Kennith

Never heard of those. Can't find any info on them. I'll shoot L8 an email. Lengths sound great

I could care less if they're yellow.. pink.. whatever
