Regardless of how tight one's quality assurance/control is, there will always be an outlier that gets past inspection.
No problem at all believing that sometimes things can get past QC.
Seems to me though, that if it truly IS a QC problem, it would NOT be with old GM/Rover tooling or processes, but with the Crower cam that is supposedly ground such as to justify the cam to the rear of the motor.
I was saying "whatever" to the fact that some of these cams are walking and the only advice we get from Mark is to clean it all up, space the cam sensor out a bit more, and put it all back together.
Sorry...just not buying it.
Not trying to bash Mark. I think he is a straight up guy who knows his shit.
I just think he is wrong on this particular issue. :bigok:
I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling that in the coming months/years, more people who actually have problems and/or take their front covers off will find evidence that the un-retained cams in a distributorless application have been walking forward and eating into shit.
For now, I think we have just about exhausted this discussion until someone else takes one apart and has something to add.
Peace
