I got a 96 5-speed w/ only 121k miles and when i let it sit in neutral the idle revs up n up over 2k rpms. . and also when im shifting gears itll rev up on its own really quick up to almost 3k . . its like i have two gas pedals whenever i push my clutch the rpms fly sky high. . the truck already sucks enough gas and this just totally makes it worse, I replaced the idle air control valve and the TPS not too long ago but they were both used sooo . . ? never found any vacum leaks either. . PLEASE help

You said you checked for leaks, but it sounds like one is there. If you are sure its not a leak check the fuel pressure to make sure the regulator is still working, and clean the maf with maf cleaner from a parts store. Your idle air control is working since its fluctuating and preventing it from stalling.

code 48...mine does that also says clean stepper moter.I have the worshop manual and still not sure where that moter is.

If you're getting a code 48, you apparently have a Lucas EMS engine.

The IAC valve is on the back of the intake plenum, accessible from the right side of the truck. It has a four wire connector going to it and a big-ass hex to screw it in or out. Unscrew it and you may well find it badly fouled with oil, dirt, etc.

Did find a split vacum line..after fixing that my idle improved alot.
