For the love of God! Have ANY of you looked at real-time data to see what the ECU is seeing?

Have you replaced plugs, wires, hoses?

Nobody is following anything even remotely resembling a reasonable course of action.

Get everything back to baseline, then start looking for things like TPS/adaptive values, vacuum leaks,e tc.

While we're at it, it might be worth it to think back to what happened right before this new problem took place. Did something magic happena dn your trucks started to run rough with a high idle?

When the truck is running, can you physically grab the throttle linkage, pull on it, and make the truck settle down in the rpm's?

I had a high idle problem and replaced the stepper motor and the problem remained. Then had the adaptive values reset. Problem solved.

Yea like at a certain point the rpms will drop when I pull on the linkage although I am not sure what the rpms are.

I'm totally confused as to what you just said...

Funny this is happening on both trucks. Out of curiosity, have you have the plenum off both trucks at some point?

How do you set the base idle on 99 SD? Everything I've read points to that as the problem. I had the high idle problem on my first D1 and since it was still under the extended warranty, the LR dealer took care of it. I seem to recall it was fixed using TestBook.

yea no more fast idle according to the mechanic with the new computer but they ran a compression test... I get to find out those results tomorrow morning but they did say one cylinder has to high of compression and one cylinder to low of compression and misfires on cylinders 1 and 2.

Just picked up the truck from Ed's rover shop in nashville and it seems to be all fixed with the new ECU and a new set of spark plugs. So for future reference if you have a consitant fast idle it could be the ECU toasted. At least I can fix the 97 fast idle now also.
