D1 radiator replacement...

It's been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd share my latest cooling issue...
Mine is a '98 D1 with roughly 150k miles and the origional radiator/ cooling system etc. (new t-stat though)
So long story short, the radiator failed. It was a slow process, welded adaptors were leaking a little bit, and now so much that every time I stop at my destination, it pisses all of the coolant all over the ground. Filled it up, brought it to the shop for a list of parts to order, and when the mechanic came out to look, a new pinhole on the top had sprung, and was spewing fluid all over.
Needless to say, a new radiator, hoses, clamps and adaptors are on the way.
Money is tight so I'll probably end up doing this myself, any tips I should know about for this job? or is it pretty much a old one out, new one in sort of deal?

Remove the fan clutch, shroud, etc to give yourself space. Fittings can be a pain to get to down low depending on your steering/skid setup but its altogether a pretty straightforward exercise.

Its a messy job, use rubber bands and condoms to cover the ends of your trans oil and engine oil cooler lines.
Replace the O-rings on the oil cooler lines too, you need 4, take your old ones to NAPA, they can match them up.

THANKS! I have the o-rings coming from rovers north I'm glad I ordered them too.
Do I need to worry about air bubbles or topping off oil cooler and or trans lines when re-attaching?

If you don't have NAPA, check plumbing at Lowe's, too, that's where I found mine. Straight forward job no doubt. The best advice I've ever gotten pertaining to rad replacement or flushing the cooling system is investing in one of those plastic baby pools at K-Mart. Best $15 I've ever spent, just nowhere to keep it afterwards

Got it done today! Seems to be working great,
I didn't have a kiddy pool, but I had a big storage tub. Shoulda had the pool haha.
Thanks for the tips guys, lots of help!
The hardest part for me was getting the fan out. Did a search here on that and the strap wrench technique worked wonders.

I will have to take pictures next time I am down at Nathans, but he did this on a D1 with minimal changes. I do know he had to drill 2 holes in the frame to mount the radiator, other than that... all went well.
