I had 245/75/16 on my first D2 with 2" RTE springs and they looked too small.
265/75 is the way to go with 2".

285/75 BFG MT fit great with the RTE 3". Only had to trim a tiny piece off the front of the sill panel.

I stand corrected, I did trim the plastic rocker pieces, totally forgot that. I am running a winch bumper so I never had to trim that out. In my mind I was thinking about door and fender trimming. I clearly needed more coffee before posting. I have 285s with 2" lift, TF front bumper and the Greg Davis rear bumper.

I've run 235's, 255's and 285's.
The 235's with a 2" lift and the others with a 3 and 4" lift (currently 4+).
With 255's I had to shorten my sliders a bit. These were sliders I built, I would expect commercially built sliders would be shorter to accommodate larger tires. Don't know about trimming the bumper since I did that the first week I had the truck.
The 235's with a 2" lift looked nice but I think they were a little squirrelly on the road and it was quite a stretch on the rims.
Between the 255's and 285's Both are a decent size with a 3+ lift. The 285's will rub your radius arms but so what?
The only thing with 285's is that they will tend to tram line at times.
Like some dick head in this thread before said, get a three inch lift. It's where you'll end up anyway.

Walter, what do you mean by tram line? I have not heard that expression before. Are you running all spring łift or some combination of springs and spacers?

Tram lining is when you use tires wider than stock size that the vehicle was designed to use. It's when your tires tend to follow lines in the road.
Have you ever felt your truck seem to get sucked in to a certain part of the road?
I'm running 3" RTE springs in the front which gave me about 4" or so and RTE 3" in the rear with D1 spring perches and spring wedges.
I'm running 7100's all around, 12" remote in the rear and 10" in the front.

I don't know about stock bumpers, but I ran 255/85's on my '04 with 3" RTE lift and didn't trim anything that was not needed for the RTE front and rear bumpers.

Rubbing constantly while driving (I doubt it)? Or rubbing when turning almost to full lock? Or rubbing when the suspension is compressed?

Sorry for not specifying rubbing only when turning at or close to full lock

Also i was reading through this post and saw the comments about tram line.. my truck is also showing signs of this “getting sucked into lines on the road” is there a way to fix this or is that just something i have to deal with because of the tires?
