Lol
Thanks guys... I ordered a new Crank Sensor today, it’ll be here tomorrow...

No, the battery had a decent charge on it. It was replaced 3-4 months ago... After it didn’t start, I did Crank it a lot trying different things to get it started, probably why the flashing lights...

I’ll be sure to post the results tomorrow evening... thanks again guys!

Looked around the garage, thought I had one off my other engine that could get send your direction...but couldn't find it...which, doesn't necessarily mean I don't have one...lol.

Hope new one fixes your rover.

Also, like I said before...I've never seen a vehicle before that a bad crank sensor eliminates spark...but then again...this is a Land Rover...lol.

I guess you could throw a crank sensor at it...but if it isn't that...good luck, with your new car purchase.

Brian.

I'm gonna work this into my signature line. I like that a lot.

just so I'm sure I understand what your saying. You have never seen a crank sensor cause a vehicle to loose spark?

Still never got an answer if you are using the alarm fob. If you have not been using the fob to unlock and lock your truck for some time your truck will lose sync and it won't start. Horn would go off in time with the blinkers.

Yes, I guess you are correct, just googled spark and crank sensor bad...and it will eliminate spark.

Good call.

Did anyone say check your grounds? Check your grounds.
Check the voltage coming from the battery not at the posts but on the terminals. Pull the terminals off and clean them anyway. You can read good voltage but still not allow enough current to start the truck.
The flashing M&S screams voltage issue to me. Check the ground strap running from the drivers side head to the firewall.

Hey guys,.... Yes, I have been using the alarm key’d fob...

So i have news.... I replaced the Crank Sensor and cranked it over..... Still did not hit but sounded different.... Shot a quick burst of ether in there and it hit and ran for 3x longer than it did before... Like it sounded like it was really running for a second... but nothing but when the ether was out, that was it... So it has spark now... Not sure if maybe before it was just a random spark when cranking and not firing the plugs in time or what... I dont guess ether will burn off compression only?..

Anyways, so now i notice the smell of bad gas... :-(

It has a 1/4 of a tank of shit gas in it... I tried to run a tube and siffon all i could out to put fresh in it, but couldn’t get the tube more than 12-14? down the spout...

After thinking about it, even though i ran the Disco a couple months ago, I have not put fuel in it for quite some time, probably 8-9 months... So before I cut a hole in the carpet in the rear and remove the pump to siffon the fuel out, anyone have a better way???

If it starts and runs after this, I’ll surely not let it sit so long ever again... what a pita!

You can get access to the fuel pump without cutting the carpet. Just gotta remove the rear door sill, and pull it back.

Yep, when you said it would somewhat fire-up on ether...I figured you had spark. Then when you "pulled the plug" to check spark...wanted to say you were doing it wrong...but folks were pretty sure it was the crank sensor by then...so I just gave up. Normally, when you check spark, you pull the wire and stick a screwdriver in the plug end and hold the screwdriver (by the handle) about a 1/4 inch from a metal portion of the engine. When you check it at the plug...you may get a false reading...since the plug could be fouled by bad fuel.

Went to a fuel seminar a few months ago, put on by BP, and the dude giving the class said the life expectancy/shelf-life was three months tops.

You may want to replace your spark plugs, before you start it on new fuel.

Anyhow, glad to hear you are making progress.

So check for spark again with the new crank sensor. You have spark or you don't? Now you smell bad gas? Maybe cause now the pump is running maybe? Do the same tests that you did before.

I am having the same issue with my Disco. It starts up but when you drive it for a minute the M and S will flash. I believe it may be a low voltage issue with my positive terminals. They are the original ones on the vehicle so I assume that is what my issue is.

Did you ever put new gas in yours and is it running fine now?

Would be good for parts and I have a clear title as well.... was used for a winter beater the last 3 years and summer time big parts getting... I dont have time for this right now and just ordered a new ride... It has the larger 18” wheels... 255/55/R18 Cooper Discoverer Tires... no more than 4-5000 miles on them.... Has the CDL,... 7 seats.... If its still here next weekend, its going in for scrap... It has the ACE system on it but was leaky and the pump bypassed... Shoot me a message if you interested or whatever.... new Bosch crank sensor and new double platinum plugs... fresh 5 gal of premium included!

BUmmer its almost starting to sound like the inside fuse box may be the issue. That fuse box is what the coils get power from. There was an easy check that a tech posted here once but I can't find it.
Take video if it getting crushed we all will enjoy that.
