What's the point? The axles will be spinning as fast as the hubs anyway.

If the hubs are open, and the cdl is locked wont that mean I'll get 100% power to the rear wheels, giving me part time 2wd? My friends have trucks that have selectable 2 or 4 wheel drive and generally get 3-5mpg better in 2wd.

By toy swap into RRCs and DIs do you mean using the rover housings and filling them with toy parts, or putting full toyota axles under the truck?

I'm pretty sure they swapped out the whole axle. Larry's on here from time to time---perhaps he can comment?

They get beter gas milage in 2wd since only the drivetrain componets after the transfer case are spinning. The front axle and driveshaft stay still. On the Disco with CDL locked everything will still be spinning there by giving you no energy savings.

Yes. You can keep the rover housing.

You're missing the entire point here. The CDL is one of the most beautiful things about the rovers. Leave it unlocked and you'll have either front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. It's not always sending "power" both ways. You're not losing mileage by having an "all wheel drive" truck. Leave it alone or get a new transfer case.

Ummm...not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but until you really understand how center diff, CDL and freewheeling hubs work, I woudn't spend much money on mods. The mods you're talking about are alot more complicated than center diff, CDL and freewheeling hub principles.
