I am in the process now of tendering a bid. I am working with the firm of Dances, With & Wolves. At this time I cannot comment on the progress.

I have gotten an e-mail and a phone call asking me if I was interested in writing a business plan to do something here.

I declined both offers/requests.

I know what's involved and mor eimportantly, I know how to do it without buying someone else's mistakes and reputation. I make enough mistakes and my reputation is bad enough:D

Oh PT, being excessively modest is almost as bad as being excessively brash. Who else am I going to call up to order a part and end up getting detailed instructions on doing the job and chat about completely unrelated subjects for 20 minutes?

Speaking of which, I need to block out half an hour on my calendar in early January to call you to order some Defender hub seals and D1 hub bearings and swivel pin shims. Better make it a full hour.

So, all jokes aside, what would be a benefit, if any, in purchasing this particular business? Is the existing reputation so bad, that you guys just dont see anyone turning this around? Just curious, since in the past i have read nothing but negative DAP "reviews."

Comrade, let me change your mind.

7 years ago I ordered a set of springs for my RRC from DAP- the factory heavy duty springs- and a set of polybushes. They were reasonably priced, shipped fast, and I was happy with my order. That was my only experience shopping there. Now that I have Will, Marty, Paul, Elias, and PT on speed dial I don't often buy parts anywhere else.

Oh, i am with you on the time-tested and proven suppliers like Will, Marty and others on here, as opposed to DAP or any other supplier; i am just curious as to whether that particular business (under new ownership) has any viable profit in its future. Now, personally, i would think it may have to expand to include other makes/models to broaden the target market (which of course may partially dilute model/make specific tech expertise) and boost profits. Ultimately i suppose i wonder if there is room for another well-run business (best case scenario) or is the fairly narrow, primarily enthusiast-fueled market already super saturated with suppliers with great or impeccable support?

Their inventory might be worth something to someone...???

Nope. Buncha old shit they can't sell on the shelves. Shop is super busy coz their mechanic is amazing, but everyone else is a cranky money grubbing whore who have helped drive that place into the ground.

My advice from firsthand experience? DON'T BUY IT. They are over their heads in debt. I'm glad I got out when I did. Burned that fkn bridge and don't regret it. The office people (not Lou) are the most unprofessional assholes I've ever had to work for/with.

It's too bad because it had the potential to be a great place. Started going downhill with SY, even worse after he left coz they were trying to make for his mistakes and trying to salvage what they could by lying and treating people unfairly. Fuck them.

That's all I have to say about that.

I don't know that the business itself is beyond "repair" but I would be worried that the market might be a little "iffy".....

The web address is worth $65K alone....easy. Then I'd start selling all kinds of eXtreme and tactical items for all the real operators out there. Tactical pants, tactical patches, tactical backpacks (aka bug out bags), tactical long underwear, tactical laser sights and dozens of other tactical items that I've failed to mention. Ya know like tactical coffee mugs and eXtreme awesome upgrades for ARs for those operators operating in their cul-de-sac and/or subdivision on streets like "Aspen Drive" and "Canterberry Crossing".

Then what I'd do is take lots of pictures of all my awesome tactical shit with me all dressed in my tactical gear getting all tactical in "real life" situations with my buddies. Just tact'd the fuck out and fuckin' up some some shit at a "real deal" tactical school in the desert. Well Palm Springs, but ya know.

Well....then I might get way crazy with selling some tactical Pelican stuff. That's what operators use right? Then maybe sell some of that tactical Snow Peak stuff. That shit is really light and awesome so when I "bug out" in my blacked out Suburban with all my sweet ass tactical gear I can cook up some braised lamb with fresh rosemary and a side of polenta. Paired nicely with a Shiraz or Malbec of course.

I don't want people to just see what I do on the weekends, I want people to want to see me doing awesome, tactical things on the weekends. That is how to sell and I really believe the DAP site could be the start.

The possibility folks are truly endless. Lets do this!

EDIT: Here is the client base right here. Trayvon style tactical hoodie, Asian and just plain awesome! The music is just the icing on the cake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nZwxDUCD0A

You'd need Steve Young to sell all that shit properly.
