Since I'm heading out in less than a month now, we've been going through the things we haven't done yet here but think we probably should before leaving DC.

What we've done so far - Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Capitol, Jefferson Memorial (just did this one tonight, that place is fantastic, and I think he's my favorite Founding Father), Mt Vernon, Great Falls, Air and Space museum (both), Museum of American History, Native American History, Natural History, Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Castle, Union Station, The National Building Museum, Botanical Gardens, and the National Zoo.

Still to go are the White House, the National Archives, and the Library of Congress.

Anything else I should be sure to see before I leave? What am I leaving out?

For the true DC experience you might consider driving through a neighborhood and torching off a magazine or two, then hang out with Marion Berry and snort blow off of some random whore's hip.

Must see the Botanical Gardens - right next to the Capitol Building - 90% indoors.

Korean War Memorial. (My professors at Penn State designed much of it)

Horace and Dickies in NE. Best "fast food" seafood in the city.

Whores on K Street.

I've heard the Holocaust Museum is a must see.

It makes for a bad day, but I agree. It is a must see.

A little out of town is a hike called Old Rag Mountain. DO IT!

Also, my fav thing about living in DC was riding my bike around the monuments at night in Feb. There would be no one else out there and they are just amazing at night.

Good tips guys, thanks for the info! Gotta edit the botanical gardens into the "seen" list - that was excellent.

Havent' been to Dumbarton Oaks yet, I bet the wife would like that.

Stu - I forgot to add that to the "done it" list. :p

Lets see...

Go see a show at the 9:30 club and then one at the Black Cat. Go to M st and hit all the bars at least once. Go to U st go to "Bohemian Caverns" on Tuesday (1/2 priced Belgium beer), Eat a Sunday brunch at the "Diner" in Adams Morgan, eats any time at "Madams Organ" Go to Smith Point at 2 am. Get crazy and go to "Dream" (with a group). Go sing karaoke at Rocket Grill in Old town. Catch some jazz at HR-57 (BYOB).

I figured you had already done all the tourist stuff.
