Save more money and build a buggy. Land rovers are money pits and the land rover community is full of ego driven well to dos, broke ass cheap fucks, and smart ass know it alls. No matter how or what you do to your truck, everyone will shit on you. This is the most arrogant group of people you will ever meet. For another $3k you can pick up an fj80 or lx450, build it for far less than a rover, and enjoy being within a community that believes no matter how or what you do to your truck, it's all about fun.

Would you like a hug?

This is the most arrogant group you have ever met? You must not know any pilots.

Ouch! Sounds like someone washed out of flight school.

Nope. I've been around enough pilots to know that most of them are arrogant.

Are you suggesting that most pilots aren't arrogant?

Three friends and two co-workers.

They know their shit, and they'll be the first ones to tell you that they are arrogant.

After they tell you they're a pilot. :victory:

You didn't tell me what you do that you are surrounded by pilots. Three friends? I personally don't like to hang around with people that are arrogant, much less call them my friends. No matter what they do. Your kind of coming across like a kid who got his lunch money stolen by a pilot one day.

You didn't tell me if you think that most pilots aren't arrogant.

You're coming across as someone who has had a nerve touched.

Edit: I suppose I should work on not painting with a wide brush. How about this: most pilots that I know are arrogant. helievacpilot is not included in that list. Better?

My nerves are just fine. The answer to your question is no. MOST pilots are not arrogant. What I'm telling you is that I don't hang around with or call friends people who are arrogant. No matter what they do. And there are plenty of arrogant people in every line of work. Becoming a pilot does not make you arrogant, you were all along. Your line of thinking is like someone from the outside looking at all of us LR owners and assuming we're all a bunch of rich snobs passing the grey poupon at stoplights. And you STILL haven't told me what you do that forces you to be around all these jerk pilots.

my original reply was intended to be sarcastic. we are a bunch of smart ass, ego types here!

i wasn't intending to bash rovers by suggesting a jeep or toyota. i just feel we should be honest. if the original poster was into jeeps before, then he needs to understand (which he obvioiusly does owning a disco) these are not jeeps or toyotas, and if you are used to a vehicle that is reliable, parts are readily available including any aftermarket part you desire, etc then you will be a bit disappointed with rovers.
we just had a customer last week with an LR2, under 50k miles, that had nothing but jeeps before this truck. His driveline is howling which should be covered under warranty, but he was going down the list of things that has gone wrong with the LR2, and said he was taking it to the dealer and trading it in for another jeep. he said 'i wished i did more homework before getting a rover...'

no i would never own a jeep or toyota, although i have come very close to saying fuck it many times.

My wife had an LR2 prior to our LR3. We had it for 60k miles and never had a single problem. It is all luck of the draw. All vehicle companies have a few bad ones roll of the assemble line. For some reason I think Rovers get a jaded view because people "expect" them to be perfect because they are expensive when new. I had a Jeep cherokee in college and had several problems with it. Broken tranny mount, clutch went out, parking brake didn't work, etc.... I have owned four rovers and none of them have ever had a major issue. Luck i tell you...LUCK.

I just tell anybody who is looking at buying a rover that it's a coin toss and ask them how lucky they are. It seems like if you're buying a used rover it's either going to treat you well or be the worst, unreliable POS vehicle you haveever owned

See the above post, please. Three friends and two co-workers over the course of my life have been pilots.

Since you're requesting a full accounting of my associations, here you go:

I worked with two at a gunstore. They hung around to get discounts. Representative of the breed? Maybe not.

The three friends were also met through that same store. I worked there throughout college. I am still in contact with only one. I lost touch with the others when I graduated and moved on. They may be modest now, I don't know.

Maybe it was the store that attracted arrogant guys?
