What Light is on?

On an '88 it's a VERY simple system.

If the Check Engine light is on, reset it by reaching under the guages and finding the correct relay. Reset it, if it comes back it's o2 sensors...likely it's just doing it automatically (They do it every 54k IIRC...)

Both of those responses are well-intentioned, but the only way to actually read the few codes that an '88 NAS Rangie will provide is with a Rover-specific scan tool. The under-seat readout is not applicable to '88s.

The EFI light does do double duty as the emissions reminder, but it also indicates emissions excursions-which most folks look to to determine parts replacement.

When did they start the under seat read out? I have an early 92 and cannot find any such read out.

I have a 1990 and have the under seat double digit display. I thought that when they moved to 14CUX is when they had that display installed on all models.

to sum it up the 1988 rrc does not have the display. in the rover manual, it actually shows the tedious process of putting a meter into the pins of the ECU to test it on a 1988.
