My check engine light is on in my 95DI and I remember reading about the device under the passenger seat that will read some sort of code when the check engine light is on. I forget what that means though. I have something displayed in this device. I know this sounds very vague and stupid but I am not sure how else to describe/ask my question.

NAS Discoveries have a digital readout for diagnostics. It is a black plastic box measuring approximately 1" x 2.5" x 3" with a red LED readout. It is found under the passenger seat facing backwards. It may be unclipped and moved so that the driver can see it.

44 is a code indicating a problem with the oxygen sensor, left side of the truck. BUT, don't run out and buy a sensor, it could be just about anything causing an A/F ratio problem.

I've been chasing a problem on my '95 for too fawking long!

You probably need a real diagnostic computer to see what is going on in real-time.

See thats what I was thinking all along. But I don't understand why. I just replaced both of the O2 sensors last winter. Do you have any advise on what to check besides a real diagnostic computer?

Digging up an old thread...

I have a '97 xd that the CEL just came on. Do I have this code box? I can't find it, and I remember having one on my '94 RRC.

I did have it read at an oil change shop, code: P01317

I'm not sure how to decifer the code, even with the Land Rover FAQ link above.

Thanks!

I've had the P1317 - ABS rough road line low fault irregularly coming on for about three years now. I clear it with ScanGauge on the fly, but it is still annoying...and Will has been trying to help out with it. Apparently, the only way to get it to go away for good is with a chip replacement in the ECU.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate electrickery?
