And I'm guessing that Sicilian D1 is a rust bucket.

I wouldn't bet on it. I spent a week in Sardinia last summer and saw lots of early D1s. They were the vehicle of choice for the farmers and country folk in the island's interior. Pretty rugged terrain and regular snowfall. Being Sicilian, though, you never know what kind of interesting items will be found in secret compartments (i.e. behind the tail lamps, under rear carpet, etc.).

Well, makes me think I should sell the D1 sitting in my driveway with the 5spd and 200tdi. The vehicle has rusted away around the otherwise good drivetrain. But hey, it's always good to have an extra 200tdi drivetrain, right?

I also have a 1995 300tdi auto D1 with a broken timing belt I'm hoping to fix up after I sell my 200tdi 1986 110. In the end, all these sorts of vehicles are only worth somewhere between what it will take for the owner to part with it, and what someone else is willing to pay.

Nice find, but I think that truck doesn't become eligible for import for another 5 years. I'm no expert on the regs, but my understanding is 25 years is the minimum age for a US import.

I know; but that is representative of what I'd like.
