DII Drag Link, Track Rod and TRE's

Getting ready to replace both assemblies, the TRE are getting pretty sloppy and I'm starting to get a front wobble when hitting the brakes hard from highway speeds.

So I did a search here and came up with little.

What's the best way to go at a reasonable price?
Or who's got the best pricing on a stock replacement set ups.

I'm as you, mine feel sloppy, especially when braking, when the truck wants to go to the right.
All rubber suspension bushes are new.
and I can't feel any slop by hand at TREs, drag ling or track rods, but.... when I try to turn them by hand (grab the link and try to rock it) there is a "hard" spot.

I've seen that only one Track rod end is available separately for each assembly, the other ones are integral with the link.

So.. I think it's time for new drag link and track rod, as it would be false economy to renew TREs and being the other ones shot as well.

When you renewed them, did you have to renew the whole assembly or just could do away with the replaceable TREs?

What Dan is trying to say is that OEM on a DII, nothing is serviceable (TRE's Drag-link, or Tie Rod Bar etc.) One side of the bar's has a TRE that is adjustable for alignment the other side is pushed in and is not removable.
Not until you purchase aftermarket bars which allow you to use DI TRE's on a special made bar (which is quite strong).

Take a look under your truck first, and then try again....
Thanks for the input, I've looked under the truck and both sides are nearly shot, I mean, there's no discernible play, but... movement is very rough. So I guess it's new drag link and track rods time, as renewing just one TRE (the only replaceable one) is just false economy.

I will never get to understand WHY do they make one only serviceable side per unit? I suppose both usually should suffer the same wear. Is it kinda april fools day joke or what?

Will keep you updated.
Best regards,
Robert

OK so I'm looking at the heavy duty bars from Rock Ware and QT.

Are there any TRE out there that are greaseable?
If not who makes the best "lifetime" TRE's?

DAP sells some greasable ones... I had a set on my DII and they were ok. They were a little beefier than stock with a zerk on the top. I believe they were bearmach...

The DAP TRE's sucks dick. So do the Lemforder TRE's. I've tried them all and nothing last longer than the genuine LR TRE's.

Agreed. I had DAP's on mine and they had a "dead" spot in the middle of two of the TRE were it had NO resistance.

OK so I bit the bullet and ordered QT drag and track bars with TRE's as a package from Justin @ Lucky 8.

And since I was on the phone with him anyway I went ahead and ordered front and rear QT diff guards.:D

Don't you mean Tata Motors isn't supporting Rovers over 10 years old? Who ever is making them, keep making them. I know mine are due for a change soon.

And I wonder who makes them for Land Rover?

Quinton-Hazell?

Land Rover certainly isn't making them, especially when they haven't built a truck that needs them since '99.

I think those are the ones I saw on Rock Auto for under $7 each?

I've just ordered a complete set of bars with replaceable TREs from Britpart, Part # is DA 5509 for D2, they are HD version, with zinc-finish (so no rust issues) and muuuch better price than the original D2 crappy item.

Best regards from Spain
