did it chirp too or just vibrate? Just trying to see if the two usually come together as a"warning sign"

If you have one or the other replace it with a Tom Woods.. Chirping comes from a dried out grease less CV joint and vibrations can be both CV or Ujoint related..

It just vibrated. Chirping would have been heard and the CV joint would have been greased.

Curious! Atlantic British just sent me an e-mail indicating that front driveshafts are back in stock-OE quality. LOL. Isn't it the OE ones that blow through the transmission?

$530
It looks just like a Tom Wood's driveshaft. The installation instructions have some of the same pictures as Tom's site.

My Tom Woods shaft started to chirp after I neglected to grease the centering ball. I religiously grease the ujoints but I didn't realize the centering ball needed to be greased too.

edit: I had the same observations as PT - one day it was fine and the next morning I'm pulling out of the bank drive-through and it sounded like a cat was wrapped around my shaft. Sent it back to TW and they replaced the centering ball yoke for a very reasonable fee (it was admittedly my fault after all). They also rebalanced the shaft, cleaned it up, re-painted it, and greased the hell out of everything. TW definitely takes pride in their work.

You need a little needle nose fitting - it's not a zirc. I have a pic somewhere, let me look. Or there's also info on another thread here in tech.

You will need one of these or one like it - I know Tom Woods provides them with the CV shafts now - http://www.tractorsupply.com/lube-link-trade-3-in-straight-needlepoint-grease-coupler-with-quick-connect-3952769

This is obviously not a rover shaft but it looks just like this--

Would somebody call them and ask them who makes them and why they are so fucking expensive?

I wish shopping websites were more like facebook, so we could all post things like this on the actual item.

Yeah, TW sent a simple plastic cone-shaped attachment back with the repaired shaft. The unspoken line was, "Here, use this next time dumbass!"

I never got the chirp but did get a wicked vibrationlast winter. It was the ft shaft and was fixed. I'm thinking a TW ds might be something to have on hand for later.

What fixed it a rebuild? I'd just get a TW and grease the U joints and CV joint on a regular basis and keep the stocker as a back up (which you shouldnt need with a TW)
