The tire guy fucked up most of my lug nuts with an air hammer. I handed him the factory lug wrench and said "use this" but he didn't. I have searched and found that 1 1/16th is the right size for the factory lugs. I bought the socket and it has to be pounded onto the lug nut to work. It then will not come off of the lugnut.:banghead:

I have found that a 1 1/8 socket with a paper towel folded twice will work but I broke my 1/2 drive ratchet trying to remove one.

Who has a deal on a new set of lug nuts? How can I get the old ones off?

I use a 27mm impact socket on mine. I had some difficulty with a couple of the nuts, I tapped the socket on with a hammer and tightened/loosened with the impact gun. The caps seemed to conform to to the socket. You can remove the decorative caps by putting the nut in a vice and knocking them off with a chisel. I screwed one up and bought a nut at the dealer it was $15-20 if I remember correctly.

Use the factory wrench with a cheater pipe to get them off, I had to do this. Also, 27mm is the socket size I have found to fit on 1/2 inch ratchet

Deep 27mm half inch drive from Sears. I use a 24 inch breaker bar to loosen them, then a ratchet to remove and install, makes it easy to use a torque wrench to tighten them too.

How about taking the truck back to the tire guy and making him pay for the lug nuts that he fucked up... Discount tire and 4wheel parts have done this to my truck and they have both replaced them... now they are careful when they see my truck come in...

The factory wrench will no longer fit due to the swelled lug covers. It will go on about 1/4 of the way and I can't pound on it because it is curved.:banghead:

What about H2 lug nuts. Aren't they the same size and spec's? I know the steel wheel guys run them (or so I have heard). Could people running stock rims use them?

- I guess I just need to get to Hummer and buy 1 lug nut and see if it would work.

I will call them tomorrow. I doubt that they will pay since I didn't notify them right away. It has been a while since I needed to remove a tire. I need to plug a nail hole and it is all but impossible whilst on the truck.

You can, but it is probably better to dress the flats and use a one inch socket.

For $120 for 20 brand new lugnuts, it's not worth the trouble to me.

Thanks for checking P.T. $120.00 is a bit spendy but I believe you are in the ballpark with everyone else. I've seen them as high as $28.00 a piece but I can't remember where.
