I should have added; the deal was for 2x SD racks for a D1, ea w/lights (1 set appeared to be piaa, other potentially Hellas of some flavor). I will post more here after pickup.

D1 racks fit...I want to say they are a little short (and conversely DII racks are a little long on a D1). Having never had a DII I'm not 100% on that...

D1 racks are way short on D2's. D2 racks look just fine on D1's. I like how it is even with the ladder on the back and sticks out a little over the windshield.

So quick feedback, pics and more to follow when I decide exactly how I'm going to proceed with these:
Acquired 2x D1 highlander SD racks tonight, picked them up from a guy who was selling them for a buddy who had to go overseas (and took them off his truck(s)(?))...whatever. Both racks have lights on them, front and rear. Minor surface rust in all the normal places but all told in very good shape given the vintage of the racks-i.e. they look a lot better in many ways than the one I have on my truck now.

Downside...no feet/hardware. I asked WTF happened? Guess when the rush to ship out or whatever hit whomever took the racks off thought the feet were not important. Amazing.

Hardware is no big deal; the stamped feet will be more problematic but does afford some opportunity to play with some ideas-like running a small piece of steel the length of the feet to distribute weight better across the rain gutter and likewise bolting a similar piece of angle steel through with hardware sandwiching to the gutter.

On the upside, the lighting was a good find. 4x Hella 1ks, a Hella 550 on the back and then 4x Piaa's (2 ea of 2 sizes...I don't know Piaa's so I need to research a bit on them) and a generic rectangular light.

For those that pm'd and what have you, if you're still interested in something here hit me at ray.gerber 'at' gmail.com in the interim. I list a formal for sale add at some point soon with pricing and more details, links to pics, etc.

that was actually my email to him when he said they were sold - did it have hardware. apparently not. i actually have 4 leftover clamps, but buying new SD feet clamps is not cheap. hopefully you can fab up something that looks good. still a damn good deal, especially with the lights. :applause:

I've got a D1 SG rack on my D2, looks fine. A little short looking if you know what you're looking at (it bothers me a little bit, but I've gotten used to it). Would gladly trade for a D2 rack if someone had one and needed a D1 rack. Also, the D1 rack on a D2, the mounting brackets dont line up with the pillars just right, so not sure how much you can load it up before strength is compromised. Tried uploading photo but I get an invalid file error message (tried .jpeg, .bmp, .tif). Will try again later.

Screw it, couldnt upload a file to save my life. Changed my avatar, shows my D2 with a D1 rack. While I prefer a big rack, a little rack works. Afterall, even a small rack is better than no rack at all. That's all I'm saying....

So both racks are SPF (without every really being formally for sale here....guess the demand outpaced advertising).

On the feet issue for those that may find themselves in the struggle of what I came across, I hit up SD in the UK on the matter and look at the 'new arrival' in the eBay store!:

Not the cheapest option by any stretch, but is OE and brand new.
