Jesus!!

That's some margin!

Buy one of those that UP mentioned, we'll either bring it over somehow or get it shipped, £220 at $1.55 is $341.00. I bet if two of you approached that seller, you'd get a bit of discount for 2 pces.

We are checking other airlines to see if we can get a better deal on the flights ;)

That's a fairly nice bumper and brush guard too. Is that a Rovertym? Looks a little different.

That is a KVT (Kyle Van Tassel) front bumper.

I can't believe anyone would even consider paying this much money for a wire mesh grill! Just make one out of your grill you have, or go buy another from a junk yard and if you mess it up no big deal.

There are people that have done this.

Where are you flying out of? I get free baggage. Like I've mentioned before. I would carry the suckers on. But I can't find any for D1. They are all damaged beyond recognition or non existent.
Maybe I should just get over it and make my own.

Heathrow to Chicago, probably American Airlines, they are the cheapest fare for cattle class.

Chicago to Baraboo, then back down to Churu... something or other to see PTSchram's place so he can buy us a beer, then down to Muncie IN.

We will be going to Dayton OH to the Air Force Museum, we belong to the Friends of The Museum and always visit when we go to the Portland IN engine show.

We fly back 28th from Chicago.

Note the comment on the last site, the grilles are all metal, not plastic.

Actually just to clarify that is in fact a RTE bumper in the picture mbrummal posted above. It just has the stock rover brush bar welded the the RTE blade.

You can see the differences between that RTE+LR brush bar in that guys picture/album and this picture of Ho's old XD from the photo gallery: http://www.discoweb.org/discoho/DSC08654.jpg

So in the parts catalogue it shows the normal grill and the saudi grill, but both have the same part number for a DII. I'll check again tomorrow with the part numbers posted here. The D1 grill is no longer available through Land Rover.

jimmy, let me know if these things are around, my local shop is annoying with parts since the guy doing parts most of the time is also doing bmw and jag parts and doesnt care about LR.

lister, if we can get a decent price somewhere, I am interested.

If you had to trim your grill now, you will have to trim the next one...there is a thread on LRR about this. There is a picture of the DAP truck (I think it is/was Steve's) with a saudi grill and its cut to fit his winch.

I'd love to have one, but my tolerance for price wouldn't go too far past 200 bucks. I don't see why I can't weld one up out of stainless and paint it black. There is a full-on metal shop right next door, and I've been meaning to get a used grille to hand to them. If they can do most of the work for little enough money to keep me from bothering with it, I'll let them have a go eventually. These guys are very good with stainless and aluminum.

With the complex look of a winch and lights on the front of the vehicle, a simple grille like that looks nice. I just like the looks of it, and I'd like to have one less plastic part on the DII.

I'm always replacing hardware with more standard parts, and I'm always in search of ways to make bits and pieces last longer. I've been tinkering with a lot of the wiring as well, simplifying things, pulling out crap that isn't required; and working on easier access, more common connectors, and better wire. Eventually, this thing will be much easier to service in the long run. A metal grille will go a long way to making me feel a bit better about the front end. I've never liked that plastic stuff on the front.

Cheers,

Kennith
