Never heard of them. I used to take my Rangie to Biggs Automotive in Bellevue, but since I live on the west side of the lake the distance became too inconvenient and I found a good indie Rover tech six blocks from my house. Biggs did good work, I was always pleased with the mechanical results and customer service. I would recommend that shop to others, and I am sure there are a few folks here who would do the same.

What do you know about Discovery's? How did you hear about them?

steer clear of the shops that are supported by cascade rovers in general,(Robert is a douche, and his wife runs that club, its a shitty club but thats another thread/story) but Biggs is a decent shop,

I met the owner/wheeled with him, not a rover guy but knows his third members I have never had work done there.

I wouldnt be afraid to go to biggs, they are well known

the shop foreman at LR Bellevue is a brit who I trust with my rig, period; and I'd go back there. he did a reseal on my Transfer case and used the right stuff, he grew up down the street from the rover factory in UK and does a fair bit of off roading himself..mark was his name IIRC

Who? Gord'n at Lamorna?
I'm on the west side of the lake, too and you are right about the hassle of getting to Biggs...

It cracks me up when Seattleites complain about the hassle of driving to the eastside. For God's sake, it is 10 miles. Hey, I understand if there is a good shop closer, but it just strikes me as silly to complain about driving a whopping 10 miles.

I'm currently dealing with them right now and have been for quite some time. It would be unfair of me to say it has been an entirely negative experience at this point but it certainly hasn't been ideal. I'll keep everyone posted.

I found them while driving through Bellevue a few months ago and hadn't been successful in getting my truck fixed at two shops previously (same issue). Those two shops were Accurate Imports in Anchorage, AK and Joe's Auto Repair in Bellingham, WA(sounds small time - was - but was recommended by the guy who dragged my dead Rover out of the shipping container when it got to Bham so I went there out of convenience). Accurate said they fixed "the problem" and didn't but were good enough to refund all of my labor when I informed them that the truck was not fixed. Joe's kept it for the month I was out of town driving it nearly daily and said the truck was fine (which meant they idled it around the block, though they claimed to have driven it on the freeway). Joe's charged me nothing at all so while I wouldn't recommend going there they don't seam to be cheats. I'll reserve judgment on Discovery's since things have not yet been resolved.

I dont know first hand, but everything I hear coincides with this. Even the guy I bought my 95 LWB from didnt care for CR. Technically the car was too old for their club, but because it looked nice they wanted their sticker on his rig. There's clubs and there's businesses and I think in the NW here its starting to get too mixed up. I personally support Gord'n at Lamorna. I have known him for 20+ years and he's a great guy. A very "traditional" rover guy.

Rob at cascade rovers is one of the few testicularly challenged she-males I rank right up there with steve young, there have been atleast a dozen guys who have asked me about cascaderovers, and I have told them all the same thing about robert and his spouse(whatever you call her..president of the club, uh huh..)

the two of them are fiscally challenged(while thats not a crime) they try to get kickbacks for referring repairs, they try to instill fear in the folks they befriend and dispense outright bad advice

they are liars and thieves

I cant say that about too many people on this forum
He comes on to dweb to sell his shit, he does not donate

cascade rovers is a farce of a club..

I roll with clubs from all over the US, from the east coast to the west,

if you have any doubts about what I say, go over to either LR dealership, and bring popcorn, man the stories I have heard top anything I have experienced 1st hand.

Rob cant wheel, cant drive, cant wrench but is good at taking money, and disappearing

I'm all about wheeling and having a good time
Cascade rovers is how they supplement his otherwise failing handyman business

steer clear of that sham..

You guys need to experience a city with real traffic. I drive from Magnolia to Bellevue all the time and it beats the hell out of any drive I've ever had to deal with in Chicago.

I drove in Chicago once, into town from the south on a Sat afternoon and back out on Sun morning to the west. I thought N VA traffic was bad. A traffic jam with no wreck at 10 on a Sun morning is just plain wrong.

Chicago is a great city as long as you don't have to drive anywhere. The taxes there are high, but the funds line the pockets of the politicians instead of building roads.

Gord'n has done some quality work for me and some close friends in the past and I love how he always tells it to you straight. I would take my truck there more frequently if I hadn't found Car Tender. I lived on Capitol Hill for a few years and was happy to find this shop. The woman who runs the front desk, Rena, knows her stuff and finds answers to my questions fast. The tech, Jason, is fastidious and thorough. Whenever I went to pick up my truck there Jason would come out, talk to me at length, and show me all the things he did beyond what I requested- at no additional charge. Plus my rig always came back shiny and washed. And they would drive me to work when I dropped off my truck early mornings. I have always been thoroughly satisfied with Car Tender. Plus they are near the whisky store, so I could browse the Scotch selection while in the neighborhood. So no need for me to drive 10 miles to Bellevue when I could go six blocks to CT.

Now I go to a different garage: my own. It's the closest one I have found yet. Their prices on labor can't be beat, but I can't always vouch for the quality of the work.

I don't want to get embroiled in the Cascade Rovers poo flinging contest that is distracting from this thread, but I was in that club for a year and my experiences were nothing like what gmhooker describes. I found Rob and the other members to be pleasant people to hang out with, courteous and responsible drivers on the trail, and honest in all dealings I had with him. It was a good introduction to a variety of trails in Washington and when I left it was on good terms. Good except for me selling my Rangie...

hmmm...

well they took my membership money, I got nothing for it..didnt think that was in good taste from someone who organized and runs a 'rover club'
ie, no access to the webiste which he promised
no invites for runs

if they didnt want me in the club, why take my cashola??

(felt like theft)

Robert asked for money to take their puppy to the vet since our Husky 'corrected' their puppy, no damage was done but in good faith, we mailed them a check and asked for the receipt to the vet bill. do you think we ever got the receipt?

no, but they cashed the check within 48 hrs, shamelessly

(felt like theft)

later, when I approached them to see if we could get the money back, I go no response, for months and.. 3 months later after MANY polite emails

..was told the wheeling they do is more for stock rovers and he felt my rig was 'too built up for them' (i.e., he didnt want someone rolling with them who had a rig more built than thiers-and may be running 'lead' on runs they organized..

.. I think it was the mud pit that he backed down from, and I made it thru and ended up pulling his rig thru that scared him, or maybe it was when he got stuck in the snow and I had to ask his wife to get out so we could unstick his rig..

well either way Robert owes me money.(yeah, YOU, scumbag, I know youre reading this: need my paypal address? unlikely ya cheap bastige..)

and a few "thanks"

there PT, you got me now? he's is what I say he is..

now after this thread do you think I will get any offer for a refund? no, so here his money's worth, forever cast in stone on dweb..
