I'm finally getting around to a nice weekend of Rover Wrenching...finally putting the new upper tailgate on the RRC, and pulling a lot of parts from the D1 to sell.

One thing I'm thinking...the one part I do NOT want to sell is the airbags from the D1. They're 15 years old, and I just don't want to have any risk of liability if someone were to buy them from me and then, God forbid, get injured.

What's the safest, most legal, easiest way to get rid of them?

I always wanted to tie one to a concrete block and set it off at the bottom of a pool.

They're probably still good. Mercedes engineers were always worried about this issue and they slapped stickers on the door frames telling you to replace the airbags in 10 and then 15 years. They're actually not seeing a reliability fall off though. Age hasn't resulted in increased failure rates.

Your owners manual tells you to take the truck to the dealer at ten years of age for inspection.

Land Rover only says that for liability reasons, they probably don't even have the airbags in stock, and if they do they've probably been sitting there for 15 years...

Mercedes says the same thing. The dealerships will give it a look and put a sticker on the door jam telling you to come back in a few years.

I overheard a girl in my class talking today about this!! She was telling someone that her roommate is going to sell her Land Rover because her airbags are 10 years old and need to be replaced! lol.

I gave her my name and number and told her "Tell your friend to call me." I hope she's cute...
