Do I have the connectors plugged into the right spot?

thanks PT, no code so far.

But what I think is the purge valve is noisy.

If its the big one on top, with the two big L shaped hoses, it is noisy. With the key on but not running it can buzz quite loudly. It's the idle air control motor.

IAV has three leads and is correct in the picture, the other two are the recirc control valve (middle) and the bottom one is the purge valve.

If I remember correctly, you can't fit them wrong as the plugs are keyed differently?

The IAV isn't a motor as such, it is a swinging solenoid, controlled by two opposing windings. It is the mark/space ratio of the power applied to the windings that pull the armature one way or the other. At rest with the ignition turned on it will buzz quite strongly until the ECU turns it off after a while.

Peter, I was thinking of the bottom two connectors as I think they can be plugged in the wrong spot. So far it seems like I got the colors (connectors) in the right spot.

Just today I was adjusting the drivers seat to try to find a fix for the rocking back and forth it does and had occasion to turn the key on, but not start the truck and that thing sure is loud.

I also hear a loud ticking from the exact same area when the truck is on as well - this not a lifter tick, liner tick, nor exhaust tick. Engine has been replaced less than 700 miles ago :)

Perhaps I need to replace one of these parts? or is that just how they work and I just never noticed until now?

There are a large number of electro-mechanical devices in the D1 and D2, many operate behind the scenes, but some are active most of the time and will be audible. There are 6 or 7 relays in the passenger compartment fusebox for example, plus the servos and flaps in the air con etc etc.
