I had a 2000 P38. The AIT was behind the headlight.
I think they moved it there with the Bosch changeover.

I installed the coils from a 9 cubic foot freezer inside the engine compartment to cool things down.
Mounted the compressor on top of the hood.
I told people it was a supercharger like Mad Max.
Didn't add enough power to compensate for the gigantic inverter I installed to power it.
Then I put a K&N sticker on the back window.
Problem solved.
The vehicle was faster off the line, ran smoother, plus, the gas mileage went up so much, I never bought gas again. And, when chicks saw the K&N sticker, I was fighting them off with a stick.
Changed my life, I tell ya, changed my life.
Very nice, Jim. And all of that - before pot was made legal in Colorado?

Thanks for the info 96discoI. Can you post some pictures to show how you accomplished this mod? Cheers!

There have been multiple requests for pictures but none have been forth coming.
I'm thinking that this mod involved a lot of trips to Home Depot to the plumbing and appliance accessories sections.

in defense of the op....

all i did was zip tie some insulation around the airbox and:

ambient: 90-95

from: 110-145 ait
to: 110/115 high ait

definitely home depot plumbers worthy - but for 3min of effort, was a fun test

do this now to your 96 disco or any other vehicle for that matter...
1)relocate cruise pump to just behind air intake box
2)drill 4 inch hole in its place
3)use anything you can find to introduce cold air from the front of the truck thru the hole you drilled to the air
intake box
4)insulate the air intake box as well as the tubing going to it from the fron of the truck

Struggling to follow these steps.. Going to need to some photos of your sister.

Any performance improvement, as the OP claims?

honestly hard to really gauge - i wanted to feel more power...

but with a 3inch lift running 235/85 on a weighed down 5 speed that hasnt seen 5th gear since a 10mile 7% downhill grade, yea.....couldnt really tell a difference

but, i imagine not having intake temps at 130-150 now is a good thing regardless of my perceived feels or lack thereof

been running on highway with same r380 and its still like a new engine. slowly figuring out how to best insulate or deflect heat from air box. the air being shoved in will vary with daytime and nightime sun cold winter what have you...but keeping the air box cool will be the key. the whole time i am accelerating the temps are going down.feels best at 65 degrees intake temp. no pix neccesary. very simple.grab all that you have in your garage like i did and get the air from the front spoiler to the airbox as quickly as possible. mine takes two 90 degree turns in about 18 inches or so. i am not sure why anyone would purposely take hot oily air from the engine bay and make the engine eat it. no brainer to fix it. and i dont have a home depot, justa home that has leftover repair materials everywhere...good luck

Oh my God the Pringles! I just about fell out of my chair laughing at that. Once you pop, you just can't stop. Thanks for the Monday morning levity.
