Sounds like you have it narrowed down.

Check your wiring to the component in question by doing voltage drop tests and resistance checks. If the wiring checks out then must be the component.

There are tests in the Rave that will lead one right to the problem.

If this turns out to be the ignition amplifier, it will be the very first one I've seen fail on a vehicle with the amp relocated away from the distributor.

What I dint get at all is my ingnition amp is not attached to the distributor!!!! I'm 100% sure. I followed the rave manual and it seem like where the amp should be. Is wired from the distributor, under the engine and up by the brake fluid resivior and ignition coil??? No wonder I was having so much trouble.... I should have this issue wrapped up by tomorrow I hope
That's for the the input. It saves me alot of time guessing and cursing

The same thing happened on my '96 Disco... The issue started to occur a few days after I bought it (go figure). I had to open the hood and wait for 30 minutes for it to cool down.

In my case, it turned out to be a loose cable at the starter.

Lol. I wish that's was my problem. Were you getting weak spark?
