Installing a new front shaft assembly this morning on my 99 DII. I'd like to put on new bolts and nuts since the old ones are somewhat stripped.

I searched...some but could not find the specs I was looking for. I can go to Lowes and hunt and peck for the right size but I'd like to see if anyone knows this stuff off hand.

Anyone know what the right size bolts and nuts are for this? I'd like to know the thread count as well. 1.00 or 1.25? any takers?

Great Basin Rovers if anyone is curious. Old assembly had a busted U joint.

Thread revival.

I need to replace the drive shaft bolts on the D1. I'm guessing that those are 3/8-24 and 1 1/4" in length, as well?

I had to do this on my RRC. All the bolts were frozen, I had to cut them off with a grinder and cutting wheel. I used grade 8. Call me paraniod

I use grade 8, too. Never had any frozen, even here in the Rust Belt. I usually use two 6pt combination wrenches with a cheater on one to break them loose.

^^^ I have a bridge you can buy, what about a nice Eiffel tower?
Seriously... you don't need that $30 gadget. A 3/8 socket on a short wobble extension gets in there just fine.
Or blow the money if you need new tools.

I have that tool. It works well in some of the spots, not so well in others. I find the socket is too long to apply enough torque(without the socket getting all cockeyed) to break the bolts loose. It's hard to mess up the bolts or nuts with two 6pt combination wrenches.

Oh please, tell me more…I'm new to land rovers and am just starting to work on my truck. I've invested in every possible tool known to be used on a Land Rover and your telling me that I can do it with just standard tools…

been there, done that, takes about 3 minutes (if that) to pull a driveshaft with one, as opposed to wrenches or wobbles.
