drive shaft nuts!!!

deeeeez nutssssssss! Ok the haynes book makes it look way too easy to remove the four bolts to release the drive shaft (s) however with them being down in a cupped area with other nuts around I cant get any type of wrench in there- any suggestions on nut size and removal? Im getting ready to sawzall!!!!!

Use a closed end spanner on both the nut and bolt. I have a special extended socket I bought from one of the LR specialty parts suppliers in the UK a couple years ago that makes the job quick and easy. You can also use a 1/4" socket set with an extender. These are much smaller than the 3/8" set you are probably using on it now.

What I've typically done is undo the propshaft from the diff, then swing it up out of the way to access the nuts on the transfer case output flange. If you do that, you can get to them with a socket.

Brake does not matter if they are not hook up. You just have to spin it (T-case in neutral?) to access all four bolts.

Also, don't reuse the nuts!
