OK boys..It's Chirpin' and I leave for wheeling in a week :( Just my luck. My question is I am pulling it now, do I need to mark the spider pin?? The dude who is going to fix it for me said that he would balance it....Thanks!

won't need balanced if you mark the shaft at the flange and tbox or other end. also good measure to install new u joints with grease fittings all pointing the same way. easier to service once installed.

G~Can you get those grease fittings at NAPA? G is right this truck is lifted 3" big tires (well big to me) ect...70K miles...Right passenger side was metal to metal. Sounds like a birdie!

i think we are talking about the same thing right? the fittings come with the u joints. i like the u joints with the fittings in the caps. much easier to grease this way.

what do you mean by "right passenger side was metal to metal"? not sure what you are actually talking about.

when the u joints are going they do chirp a bit and you will then get some vibes at some point at speed. usually the cup breaks up and this can be seen with a flash light under the truck.

I found that the Spicers with the zerks way out there did change the balance I know on a short shaft ....... but I felt a small vibe that wasn't there before If my guy could balance the Rover shafts I would get it done

Yea she threw me with the right pass side too sounds like pads

I ended up with the Precision 344 all greased up too (3 of them at AutoZone ran me about $$53.87 with tax)!

Sorry, by right passenger I meant that I shined a light up there in the rear of the front shaft before I pulled it and it is grinding metal to metal where the CV's are (looked mangled).

i've used those 344's they look good. I bought 1 344 from Napa and it was stamp made in japan 2 others i got from rockauto.com and they were stamp made in usa. needless to say I was greesing them and got to the japan one and pull my grease gun out and the grease fitting broke right off :(. Just be carefull pulling them off.
