EAS fault

I'm new to my p38 so this is my first EAS hard fault. Seems typical; started the truck and the height was at the low setting but the top light on the christmas tree for extended height was blinking. The air up icon on the dash was on so I knew fun was coming. The truck remained aired up and I finally got the EAS fault message and max speed of 35 MPH. Drove about five miles and parked it. Key off and I got out only to find the EAS compressor slowly increase in volume as it pumped. Back in, started it up and EAS fault still on. Key off, close up truck and same compressor actions. I took the hot lead off the battery to stop the insanity. Later when I returned in the 10 degree weather I reattached the battery lead and started the truck up. EAS fault came on and then the truck vented its air and it dropped to the bump stopd in about 5 seconds. Even drop between corners.

I may have had a battery go down in voltage so I put my replacement battery in yesterday. I'm reading up on the EAS connector jump so that will come next. I do have an OBD II reader but I've never connected it to the p38.

I haven't run into any afterrun compressor threads mentioned in the knowledge base.

I am trainable and I have an extensive cache of wiring pins, etc. Let me know.

On to the Rave

I've been reading the Roversnet EAS fixes. Great stuff.

I was thinking of the fix of going to relay 20 and jumping pin #5. Too bad it isn't marked. So I'm off to the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. Thanks.

the pins are marked on the bottom of the relay IIRC, or pin 1 to 8 on the ECU connector will run the comp.

the real issue is why did the compressor continue to run after you shut off the engine?

perhaps the relay stuck?

not raising is most often a combination of a slow compressor and leaky springs, sometimes just one of the two if you're lucky, but the leaks will cause the compressor to wear out faster AND be on the bumpstops every morning, meaning you have to wait for it to come back up.

Ah, Jeff from JC's 4x4 in Denver helped me out. The relay had gone south so the compressor would run after I had turned the truck off. Everything else is working fine now. Jeff mentioned the Arnott air springs so that is on my scope for the future.
