I bought the mounts at bass pro, really anywhere that sells maglights probably sell the mounts. mount it below the drivers seat and IF it falls out, which mine have been there for two years, and I know roberts hasn't fallen out on some tough trails, then it won't hit you in the head.

Maroon bully, where you at in AL?

I bought my clips at Home Depot I think.
I mounted mine on the driver's side where the grab handle was.
It takes quite the tug to remove.
I've made some pretty hard landings and impacts and it's never dislodged.

I got the mounts at Wal-Mart, they are mounted to a piece of aluminium bolted to the seat mount. The very next day, I flopped the truck on Ample and Alluring in the Tillamook. The flashlight was the least of my worries!

BTW-it was mounted similarly, albeit to a piece of wood, BOTH times I flopped at the Gorge in KY. BOTH times.

It was mounted there the time I ahd the truck on the front bumper and the back door in the UP. I have no fears of it coming out of the clamps.

you guys are on drugs

my 4 cell mag light used to bounce out of its mount on 2 foot chop in my boat all the time.

in a roll over that is a flying projectile...no other way to look at it

its pretty clear you guys havent rolled in a truck. When you do you will see what I'm talking about.

I have rolled the Disco, and my MagLite stayed in the clips, I've hit miles of whoop-de-doos in Baja, it stayed cliped in, I've bombed through 3ft deep whoops so hard that my CB antena flexed into my spare tire and exploded, light stayed cliped in, I grabbed it and walked away, light stayed cliped in and I fell on my ass. There may have been a redesign at some point, or a change in materials on the clips but mine have held great. If you're really worried about it you can use a little velcro strap to hold the light in, keeping a little light in the glovebox is fine, but I hate having to reach over there and dig around for my Pelican light just to find my light.

its pretty clear you guys havent rolled in a truck. When you do you will see what I'm talking about. I have seen a pair of tennis shoes break windows, a full soda can knock someone silly and my first hand back of the head I was nearly decapatated by small 1 gallon steel fuel can that was in the back of my CJ5. I ended up with about 10 stitches.

hanging a 4lb flashlight in those snap clipps in a truck that you expect to be taking on tough trails is nonesence.

sorry but I am just a bit paranoid because i have been down that road...luckily only once in a disco:D

You are paranoid... You could get hit in the head by a dozen other things. Multiple people have said that theyve hit tough trails with theirs and had no problems. End of story. If yours is coming out on 2 ft chop, maybe you should think about getting a bigger boat with a smoother ride, it takes a lot of force to get that light out...

If after you have weighed the pros and cons of having a mag-lite, and the possibility of you rolling over you still decide you want one...Sams club is selling a nice package deal.
One large Mag-lite with mount, and a small Mag-lite to keep on your person, or elsewhere if you should so decide.
The price at my local Sams club for that package is about equal to what most of the other stores up here are getting just for the large Mag.
Just my two cents,
Glen

x2 on the Surefire. This little baby is brighter than the 3D cell Mag light I had. My 5 yr old son lost the Mag light and I could care less. (Just pack extra batteries for the Surefire).

not in my rig you cant.

ask the guys that wheel with me everything is strapped in tight or in a strapped in pelican.

oh and its end of story only untill something hits someone in the head.

see I really use my truck and because of that I am not as intrested in flashlights and jerry can mounts and all this other stuff. I am intrested in safe use and coming back with all my friends and family alive and un injured.

if that makes me paranoid...call me what you will I could really fucking care less.

but seeing as I dont spend enough time on the trails right now it seems useless, but maybe someday. Anyways...

By your own words you aint hitting the trails much...so go ahead and mount the flashlight where you feel best, maybe on the roof rack so it shows up in your poser profile driveway pic with your limb risers and landing lights:applause:

My advice is still sound...be careful with heavy solid things in your truck off-road because in a roll over they can kill someone.

I agree. About the only thing not strapped down adequately in my rig is maps and small camera. You cannot be too safe.

Do what you want man, buy the clips and put a strap around... Its that easy!! It wont come out.

I use my truck, but seeing as Im a student and dont really have all that much time... I dont get out as much as I would like. Make fun of the limb risers, the bumpers, the sliders, the mantec, the ARB lockers and the swampers all you want... Call it poser, oh wait, everyone else on this site has that stuff too!!! YAY!! Does that mean theyre posers too? At the end of the day Ill still have a very capable truck, that could probably follow yours wherever and it will still be nicer than yours...
