I have seen lots of posts about people just making the comment about relocating the ECU but I did not find the details on this approach.
Yea, I have PMed a few asking, but I thought I might as well get this out there.

GEMS 97, So considering any options...
Cut & Re-wire in the extension? Do all connections require solder? Are all the wires the same guage? Where in the firewall do you pass thru? Where is your final resting place?

Extensions available? If so who has these? Is the cost rediculous compared to DIY? Are the extensions plug&play or is rewiring required?

In progress. I'm taking a wiring harness from a burned up truck and a dead ECU and making an extension harness.

The ECU may well end up on the ceiling, or on the bulkhead, right below the windscreen.

It's not a job for the faint of heart and I hope your solder and wire handling skills are up for it.

That's what I had my audio buddy do...although we did need to fine tune the air flow meter to settle the truck down a bit...but that's probably due to the excellent quality of gas we are getting from the refinary from our buddies across the Syrian border...might as well put diesel in that V8

Thanks Paul.
Nadim mentioned adapters. I guess I am having trouble understanding what that means. To me I interpret that as a set of male/female plugs for each of the 3 wire looms but I am unsure if these adapters are already wired, like a pre-fabed extension or if these adpters require you to wire these up.
I am guessing they require wiring since you have to pass these through the firewall.

Guess I am blocked on this until I see a picture or someone says, "yo Lutz, only one way to do this, cut and extend".

Sorry I am being dense on this.

No ready made "Adaptors" per se, you'd need to get a complete set from the junk yard and do it yourself...am sure PT can be more details, more precise and DEFINITELY more informative than me...as long as his photography techniques have developed :D

Snow, hmmm, I've seen it on TV. I'll stick with sand and mud, but yes, love to see pictures Paul even if that is sometime in April... It takes a hardy soul to live on snow.

Scorpion makes a ECU relocation kit. Not sure were to get it state side, though. Maybe try Luckey8.
