Enging Running With doors locked

I am trying to figure out if I can leave my 2007 LR3 Running with the air on and the key in the ignition and than lock the doors with the other remote. I used to do this with my chevy tahoe. I need to do this because I leave my dog in my suv.

Anyone know if you can do this?

Did you try reaching in from one of the back doors to the lock button on the dash, then shutting the door? That's pretty much the only way I know to lock your keys in the car. It should work while it's running. I would imagine you'd be able to unlock from outside with the other remote at that point, but if not, you could always use the manual unlock.

Don't the LR3's have the windows that go all the way up if you bump the switch? Roll down the window and get out. Lock the doors through the window then bump the switch? Just an idea.

Those are both great ideas. The windows and the back seat. The best is the window.

Thanks...

I'm sure there is a mode the dealer can turn on for you that lets you have the car running and lock the car with the other remote. From what I heard, it is a setting designed for extremely cold climates so the car can be turned on to heat up while you wait inside in the warmth, and you can lock the doors for security - but it will probably arm the motion sensors so there may still be an issue about having a dog in the vehicle at the same time. Anyway, I think the dealer can answer this for you.

This did not work. Someone sat in the drivers seat and I started the car and locked the car from the inside. I then opened the door and shut it. I reached in and locked the door. I then reached in and auto closed the window.

When the window was up I tried to unlock the car with the other remote.

Nothing happened.

Ill have to call the dealership.

I spoke to the dealership. They said its not possible. The only way would be to unlock the door after I rolled up the window using the key. But than I would have to pop off the plastic part each time I wanted to get in the car.

Sort of sucks.

LR3 Owner,

I don't know if this will work on your LR3, but it works on my D2. I use this method if I need to leave my dogs in my truck for very short periods of time.

I leave 1st key in the ignition to keep the truck running. I get out and walk around to the passenger side, open the passenger door, and reach over to the manual lock button on the dash. This put all the locks in the locked position. I close the passenger door and go do whatever I need to do.

When I return, I use my spare key to open the drivers door manually (turning the key in the lock).

'Hope that helps. :)

I appreciate the suggestion. I tried this with someone in the LR3 incase it did not work. It did NOT work. the 2nd key remote would not open the door.

I spoke to the dealer they said it was not possible.

Does your remote have an actual key attached to it??

I am asking because my "remote" will not open the door either.

My keys have a remote and a key attached together.

I have to use the actual key portion which is attached to the remote at the drivers door.

I turn the key in the lock and it opens. :)

on an LR3 you have to pop the lock handle cover off to get at the lock. another thing thats been unneccesarily complicated.. much like the electronic parking brake. just wait to see how excited youll be when that bastard decides not to release. :D

Thanks for the explanation. :)

There seem to be quite a few unusual changes on the LR3.
